NASHVILLE Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey , Tenn. (AP) — Blaine Gabbert threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to MyCole Pruitt with 4:30 left and the Tennessee Titans kept their playoff hopes alive by rallying to beat the Washington Redskins 25-16 on Saturday.Gabbert came off the bench for the third time this season after the Redskins knocked Marcus Mariota out of the game late in the first half with a stinger. Gabbert hit Taywan Taylor for 35 yards to jump-start the winning drive, Derrick Henry ran four times for 33 yards, his last an 18-yarder to the 2. Gabbert then hit Pruitt at the back of the end zone. The Titans (9-6) now must beat Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts and have either Baltimore or Pittsburgh lose once to earn the AFC’s second wild-card spot for a second consecutive playoff berth.Safety Kevin Byard intercepted Josh Johnson’s pass on third-and-3 with 1:17 left. Then Malcolm Butler picked off a pass as time expired and ran 56 yards for an emphatic TD.The Redskins (7-8) have lost five of six.RAVENS 22, CHARGERS 10CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Lamar Jackson threw for 204 yards and had the longest touchdown pass of his brief career Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , and Baltimore strengthened its chances of clinching a playoff spot. The Ravens (9-6) — who have won five of their last six with Jackson as the starter — dominated for most of the night to remain in possession of the last wild-card spot. They briefly trailed 10-6 early in the third quarter before Jackson completed a 68-yard touchdown pass to Mark Andrews.Justin Tucker’s third field goal extended the lead to six and they put it away late in the fourth quarter when Patrick Onwuaso forced Antonio Gates’ fumble and Tavon Young returned it 62 yards. Jackson, who was the 32nd overall pick in April, had his first 200-yard passing game, completing 12 of 22. Gus Edwards had 92 yards on 14 carries.Los Angeles (11-4) has clinched a playoff spot, but its hopes of winning the AFC West suffered a major blow. Steelers quarterback Josh Dobbs got his first regular season playing time during the 2018 season and the results were a mixed bag.He was called on in the fourth quarter of a November game against the Ravens when Ben Roethlisberger had to come out after a hit. The Steelers were backed up in their own end zone Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , but Dobbs completed his first NFL pass for a 22-yard gain that helped set up a field goal the Steelers used to go up two scores on their way to a win.Dobbs replaced an ailing Roethlisberger in a December game against the Raiders and didn’t do as well. He was 4-of-9 for 24 yards and an interception as the Steelers went down in a 24-21 loss that loomed large when they were watching the playoffs at the end of the season. After the season, Dobbs took stock of a year that started with him beating out Landry Jones for the No. 2 job.“Definitely, there were positives to take from [2018],” Dobbs said Jerome Bettis Jersey , via the . “Obviously, you wish the team would have gone farther, so there’s frustration in that … But it was a fun year, a fun season. I felt like I grew a lot personally and in my role with the team. I feel like I was able to take some steps forward. And I look forward to this offseason James Conner Jersey , when I can take just as many steps forward and in the right direction as well.”Dobbs may have to show that growth in order to keep the No. 2 job. Mason Rudolph was a third-round pick last year and will be pushing to follow Dobbs’ path from third quarterback to primary backup in his second season. tight end Jesse James compared the drama that enveloped the team over the course of the year to something one might see on a TV show starring the Kardashians and the topic came up at his first press conference as a member of the Lions.James said he enjoyed his time playing for the Steelers, but admitted to being “glad to get away” from the drama. He added that the Antonio Brown trade “had to happen” because things were “out of control” by the end of the season. That’s in James’ past and he also talked about what’s to come in the future. He said he felt he had some success offensively with the Steelers, but thought his role and his production will be bigger now that he’s in Detroit.“I think it could have been better https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey ,” James said, via the . “Offensively, I wasn’t used the way I feel I could be used here. I feel like my ceiling is much higher here than it was in the past.”The Lions talked a lot about getting better at tight end this season and James was the player they chose to lead that effort. That should give him plenty of opportunities to make good on his feeling that he can do more than he did in Pittsburgh.
ALAMEDA Bo Jackson Jersey White , Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders will not get the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft if quarterback Derek Carr has any say in it.For the 15th time in the last 16 seasons, the Raiders will finish no better than .500, and that’s if they run the table over the final six weeks.Barring a sudden turnaround Oakland is headed for another top five pick in the draft. The Raiders are tied with the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals for the worst record in the NFL at 2-8. Based on strength of schedule, the 49ers own the top overall pick followed by the Cardinals and the Raiders.Oakland held the No. 1 spot until beating Arizona last week to snap a five-game losing streak.Carr is determined to keep the Raiders out of that position again.“I want to mess up the draft,” Carr said Wednesday. “I don’t want the first pick. I want to win all these games. I want everybody to be mad at me for that. That’s what I want to accomplish.”Since the merger in 1970 the Raiders have had the first overall pick one other time — in 2007 when they drafted quarterback JaMarcus Russell. Russell lasted just three seasons and is widely considered one of the biggest busts in NFL history. The Raiders had high hopes when the year began, with both owner Mark Davis and coach Jon Gruden talking hopefully of a Super Bowl before the team relocates to Las Vegas for the 2020 season. Those plans were derailed early when the team lost nine of its first 10 games. With the focus now on the future, the Raiders are hopeful of getting better through the draft.Through a series of trades that sent Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears and Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys, they have three first-round picks in 2019 and two more in 2020.Carr, the 36th overall pick in 2014, has repeatedly brushed aside talk of the Raiders tanking in order to get the No. 1 pick and said it’s more important for the team to establish a winning tone.“For us as an offense it’s really just building continuity,” Carr said “We’ve got a lot of young guys playing. We’ve got a lot of new guys playing. Everyone sees what’s going on, what we’re having to deal with but why not just go out and win some games? That would be so cool for this group to be able to hold onto.”Carr will have to do some more adjusting to make that happen. With wide receivers Jordy Nelson (knee) and Martavis Bryant (PCL) questionable, the Raiders signed Keon Hatcher off Green Bay’s practice squad. Hatcher was on Oakland’s 53-man roster coming out of training camp before being waived to make room for Bryant. The Raiders also lost Brandon LaFell to an Achilles injury suffered against the Cardinals. LaFell was placed on injured reserve this week.“Love Keon,” Carr said. “He’s so competitive. That’s the moral of the story with the guys coach keeps around. They’re super competitive. You’re going to see him do the dirty work.”Notes: Wide receiver Johnny Holton was activated from the practice squad. Holton had been taking reps as a defensive back after beginning the season at receiver. With Oakland’s injury issues at the position, Holton was switched back to offense. . Nose tackle Justin Ellis returned to practice for the first time since suffering a foot injury in Week 1. Ellis is the team’s best run defender but Gruden declined to say whether he would be activated this week. . Wide receiver Saeed Blacknall and cornerback Arrion Springs were signed to the practice squad. OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Jon Gruden has quickly put his stamp on the Oakland Raiders in his second stint as coach. He’s installed his new systems, overhauled more than half the roster and traded star pass rusher Khalil Mack to Chicago just before the start of the season for draft picks.Gruden’s quest to get the new-look Raiders back to the level they were at during his first stint that ended in 2001 begins at home Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams. Oakland has had just one winning season in the past 15 years.“We have not had a lot of success,” Gruden said. “We’ve got to turn this team around. We’ve got to get this team built back to where we can compete for championships. It was that way in 1998 and it’s that way 20 years later. We’ve got to put this train back on the track and we’ve tried to assemble the right guys to get us started. We’ll see where we are on Monday night.”There is quite a bit of intrigue in what Gruden’s offense will look like in his first game as coach in 10 years. He spent the past nine seasons after being fired in Tampa Bay as the analyst for “Monday Night Football.”Gruden spent much of the offseason talking about wanting to bring the Raiders back to 1998. He showed almost none of his offense in the preseason, but his former protege and current Rams coach Sean McVay knows to expect the unexpected.“He’s always done such a good job of mixing it up,” McVay said. “I’m sure he’s got a bunch of new wrinkles that he’s added to his arsenal. It’s going to be exciting, but it is a great challenge, really kind of that element of uncertainty and that does make it very difficult.”Despite the trade of Mack, Gruden has many of the ingredients he needs for a successful season on offense with Derek Carr at quarterback, a strong interior offensive line https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , a running game led by Marshawn Lynch and a pair of receivers in Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson who have shown big-play ability in the past. Now he gets a chance to show some new wrinkles that he learned by visiting and watching all the other teams as an announcer.“I feel like he’s more advanced,” said tackle Donald Penn, who played for Gruden in Tampa Bay in 2007-08. “He’s gotten even smarter. That’s crazy to say because he knows so much already, but I feel like he’s learned even more during that time off.”Here are some other things to watch:TEACHER VS. MENTOR: Gruden hired McVay as a 22-year-old assistant wide receivers coach in 2008 but the ties between the families go back further. McVay’s grandfather, John, hired Gruden’s father, Jim, at Dayton in 1970, and helped Jon get his first NFL job as an assistant in San Francisco in 1990. The younger McVay has taken so much from Gruden that he has many of the same mannerisms and sounds so much like his mentor that Jon Gruden joked he does a better impersonation of him than comedian Frank Caliendo.“I hear it all the time,” McVay said. “”But I think probably subconsciously you pick up on some of those things just from being around somebody. I got so much respect for him so I take it as a compliment.”DOMINANT DONALD: While the Raiders cut ties with 2016 AP Defensive Player of the Year Mack after his contract holdout, the Rams gave last year’s top defensive player Aaron Donald a six-year, $135 million deal, with $87 million guaranteed to end his holdout. Donald, perhaps the game’s top interior pass rusher, joins a defense that added three former All-Pros in the offseason in defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib.GOFF’S GROWTH: Rams QB Jared Goff took a big step last year after the former No. 1 overall pick struggled in his rookie season in 2016. Goff increased his yards per attempt from 5.3 to 8.0 and his passer rating from 63.6 to 100.5. Goff still sees more room to grow, but didn’t get to show that in the preseason when he didn’t get any snaps because of injuries to the offensive line.“There’s a bunch of stuff we’ve been working on this offseason that we’re ready to display on Monday night,” Goff said. “A lot of the stuff is from last season that we’re going to continue to do, and then a lot of new stuff that we’re doing.”DRIVE THE CARR: Carr is looking to bounce back from a down season as he struggled with a back injury and an unimaginative offense by former coordinator Todd Downing. He matched his career high with 13 interceptions and recorded his worst totals in yards, touchdowns and passer rating since his rookie year in 2014. HIDDEN SCHEMES: These teams played just over three weeks ago in an exhibition, although not much can be gleaned from that game. Both teams sat almost all of their starters and showed almost none of the schemes knowing they’d play a game that counts so soon.“You would think we’d know about them, they would know about us, but all of our starters on both teams were wearing sweatsuits,” Gruden said.
After the draft John Elway Jersey White , Broncos General Manager John Elway told Peter King that he believes quarterback Joe Flacco is “coming into his prime” heading into the 2019 season. That’s generally not the way most people feel about 34-year-old quarterbacks without a recent history of great success, but it was enough for Elway to pass on a quarterback in the first round of the draft. Elway’s made some bad bets at quarterback in the past, though, and he didn’t pass up the chance to trade up for Drew Lock in the second round.Elway told Mike Klis of KUSA that he couldn’t pass up “great value” at that point in the draft and suggested that he’s learned from past experiences that you want to be ahead of the curve on having a young quarterback ready to replace a veteran starter.“You’re always trying to find an answer to the quarterback position,” Elway said. “You can’t wait till you don’t have one. We’ve been working on it and you’re always working on it. We feel good about what we have in Drew and his ability over the next couple years to continue to grow and make some strides. Hopefully, he’s that guy for the future.”The last time the Broncos replaced a veteran quarterback was in 2016 when Peyton Manning retired and the team drafted Paxton Lynch in the first round. Lynch flopped and the team’s gone three years without a playoff berth while running through several quarterbacks. Elway hopes this year’s dual approach stops that carousel from spinning for years to come. ATLANTA (AP) — In the past decade, four defensive backs from the modern era have made the Pro Football Hall of Fame.On Saturday, five of them are up for consideration.Cornerback Champ Bailey and safety Ed Reed are in their first year of eligibility. Cornerback Ty Law and safeties John Lynch and Steve Atwater each have been this route before and fallen short. There are 26 defensive backs in the Canton shrine, not a particularly high number; 26 quarterbacks are in the hall, and only one of them is on the field at a time — OK, the Saints sometimes go with two. Most defenses have at least four DBs out there at a time, and more often these days there are five or six.So the relative shortage of coverage guys and bone-shattering tacklers from the secondary could get addressed this year.“Man, just a playmaker,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta says of Reed, who was a five-time All-Pro, won a Super Bowl for the 2012 season, made the All-Decade team of the 2000s, and was the 2004 Defensive Player of the Year.“Ed just always had a great knack for making a critical play in a critical situation. He was a finisher. He was a guy that when the lights were on, he was going to make the play.”DeCosta recalls a game against Washington:“I’ll never forget that night game when he blocked the punt, recovered the fumble and basically, singlehandedly, won that game for us. He just had a flare for making the best play of the game.”Reed’s fellow newcomer to the process, Bailey, starred for the Redskins for five seasons, then for another 10 with Denver. A three-time All-Pro who also made the 2000s All-Decade squad, he had 52 interceptions and was a lockdown cornerback for most of his career. Bailey also played some offense and returned punts.“I just loved to play. That’s why I did so much Womens Royce Freeman Jersey ,” he says. “I love to do it, it wasn’t because I was good at it. A lot of guys are good at it, but they hate putting in the work. That’s what I love to do.“When I went to college, it was the same thing. When I got to NFL, I wanted to do everything. I did as much as I could, as long as I could, and as long as they allowed me. Then once I got a little older, I got a little smarter and realized that I shouldn’t be doing all of this stuff. But it’s football and I miss the game.”Lynch was the bulwark of the Tampa 2 defense for the Buccaneers and then the Broncos, winning a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay. Law also won rings, getting three with New England, and had 53 interceptions. Atwater, as fierce a hitter as the safety position has seen, won two Super Bowls with the Broncos. There is a definite Denver flavor to this year’s class, with team owner Pat Bowlen on the ballot as a contributor. The other contributors’ category nominee is long-time Cowboys and league executive Gil Brandt, and the senior candidate is former Chiefs safety Johnny Robinson. era guys.Along with DB, the offensive line is loaded with contenders, featuring center Kevin Mawae, tackles Steve Hutchinson and Tony Boselli, and guard Alan Faneca. All have been finalists before. Mawae, Faneca and Hutchinson also made the All-Decade team of the 2000s, Boselli was voted to the 1990s squad. The other first-year eligible player in the mix is Tony Gonzalez, who holds most of the NFL’s career records for tight ends.Wide receiver Issac Bruce, running back Edgerrin James, defensive lineman Richard Seymour and coaches Don Coryell and Tom Flores are the other finalists.A maximum of five modern-era candidates can make it, and a maximum of eight overall.Inductions will be on Aug. 3.
LANDOVER Montez Sweat Jersey , Md. (AP) — D.J Swearinger didn’t even want a few hours to soak up a victory before preparing for the Dallas Cowboys. In the aftermath of a gutsy performance without two top players and after a short turnaround from an embarrassing defeat, the Washington Redskins safety figured he’d start looking at Cowboys film as soon as he got home. It’s that kind of focus he wants all his teammates to have to make sure the roller-coaster Redskins don’t take another dip with back-to-back games coming up against NFC East rivals.“We’ve got the Cowboys coming in — there shouldn’t be no laughing next week,” Swearinger said after Washington beat the Carolina Panthers 23-17 Sunday. “The thing we’ve got to understand, man, we can’t go up and down. This team goes up and down. We’ve got to stay consistent in our preparation. Whatever we did last week, we’ve got to stay consistent.”Consistency has not exactly been a hallmark for the Redskins (3-2) in alternating not only wins and losses but games so uplifting and deflating that it’s hard to get a read on what they are. A 43-19 blowout loss at the hands of the New Orleans Saints motivated players within only a few days to get ready for the Panthers, but upcoming games against Dallas and at the New York Giants should test their ability to respond to success.“(It’s about) staying focused and keeping that consistent approach,” cornerback Quinton Dunbar said. “Don’t get too high. Don’t get too low. When you get wins, don’t be high like you got the whole world in your hand. When you lose, your whole world turns down. It’s about staying steady.”In some ways, it helps that the Panthers limited the Redskins to 119 offensive yards in the second half and almost came back from a 17-point deficit. Cornerback Josh Norman said players realize “everything is not peaches and cream,” which should help them stay focused for the Cowboys.“There’s room for improvement,” tight end Jordan Reed said. “Even though we won this game, we definitely could have put up even more numbers and stopped them on defense. You see that and it motivates you to be the best that you can be. We haven’t been that yet, so it’s coming.”Some things we learned from the Redskins’ victory over the Panthers:ROARING DEFENSEAfter allowing only 288 yards and being on the wrong side of some turnovers by the offense, the Panthers’ defense will need to be even better at the Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) on Sunday. in the second half, but see some definite areas of need with the defending Super Bowl champions up next.“We just have to make some more plays on defense,” linebacker Luke Kuechly said. “We have to play better in the red zone. That’s something that we’ll get addressed and improve on moving forward.”Adrian Peterson’s 97 yards on 17 carries showed another glaring hole for Carolina, which entered tied for the eighth-best run defense in the league. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and running backs Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement present another challenge in that department.PETERSON POWERDespite dealing with shoulder, knee and ankle injuries, Peterson had another game that made it look like he’s way younger than 33. Peterson never doubted he’d play and should be good to go against Dallas.“It was definitely mind over matter,” Peterson said. “It was game where you’ve just got to bite down and put your best foot forward. So that’s what I did. I already had made up my mind by Friday that Dwayne Haskins Jersey , ‘Hey I’m gonna give it a go. I know it’s going to be painful but its mind over matter and just keep pressing.’ That’s what I ended up doing.”BIG GUYS BACKCarolina could easily point to two fumbles by rookie D.J. Moore and an interception by Cam Newton as the reasons for a disheartening loss . But the Panthers have reason for optimism in the coming weeks after getting tight end Greg Olsen back from a broken foot and linebacker Thomas Davis for his first game of the season after serving a suspension for performance-enhancers.Olsen had four catches for 48 yards; he gives Newton a big, reliable target in the passing game.“Toward the second half, I felt like I was able to play pretty close to what I was hoping,” Olsen said.Davis had six tackles and two passes defensed and feels he has another level to his game.“Just have to be better,” Davis said. “You have to get back into the feel of going out and playing football and that’s something that I’ve learned today.”SMITH SETTLES DOWNGoing 23 of 39 with an interception at New Orleans sent Redskins quarterback Alex Smith to a new low this season. He wasn’t perfect in throwing 21 of 36 for 163 yards and two TDs against Carolina, even without running back Chris Thompson and receiver Jamison Crowder.Smith leaned on Reed (five catches for 36 yards) and fellow tight end Vernon Davis (three catches for 48 yards) in finding new ways to run the offense.“I feel like we’re untapped offensively — a lot of potential,” Smith said. “I said untapped as we continue to find out who we are, our identity as an offense.” Kirk Cousins has started only two playoff games, winning neither. Yet, the Vikings signed him to a three-year deal last year that made him, at the time, the highest-paid player in NFL history. The Vikings have to figure out how to get back to what they did in 2017, now with Cousins as their quarterback.“A lot of the things we’re doing now [are] . . . to get Kirk Cousins to go to that next level to do the things he does best,” Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman said Wednesday at the Vikings charity golf outing at The Meadows at Mystic Lake, via Chris Tomasson of the .The Vikings are expected to run more and do more play action, something Spielman said Cousins does well.“We know what our identity is,” Spielman said. “We got away from that last year. Our identity with Coach [Mike] Zimmer and how we win games with the Minnesota Vikings is we’re going to be tough; we’re going to be physical; we’re going to play great defense; we’re going to run the ball; we’re going to set up big plays by being able to run the ball and use play action. One of the things Kirk Cousins is best at is play action, and we didn’t do that enough last year.”Cousins threw for 4,298 yards and 30 touchdowns but committed 17 turnovers. The Vikings went 8-7-1 a year after reaching the NFC Championship Game with Case Keenum, who went 12-4 in 2017, including two postseason games.

Around The NFLLe’Veon Bell fails to report to Steelers, ineligible to play remainder of the seasonBills release WR Terrelle PryorHue Jackson to join Bengals staff as an assistant coachRams provide thousands of tickets to first responders Throughout the years, Mike Mayock has had plenty of hits in his NFL draft evaluations. But like any human he is not perfect. Who are his biggest draft misses of the past ten years?1. Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M (2014)Mayock rated the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner as the highest quarterback in the draft over Derek Carr, Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater, and Jimmy Garoppolo. After struggling off the field, Manziel only lasted two seasons in the NFL after the Browns drafted him with the 22nd overall pick in 2014. 2. Cordarrelle Patterson, WR Antonio Brown Jersey White , Tennessee (2013)Patterson’s big-playmaking ability led to Mayock ranking him as the second best wide receiver in the draft, over DeAndre Hopkins, Keenan Allen, and Robert Woods. Patterson was ultimately the third wide receiver to come off the board at 29 overall. Since entering the league, he has been arguably the best kick returner in the NFL, but has yet to record 500 receiving yards or five touchdowns in a season. 3. Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri (2011)2010 Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton was viewed as the consensus top quarterback in the 2011 NFL Draft, that is except for Mayock who had Gabbert rated higher. Newton, the 2015 MVP winner, was eventually the number one overall pick, and has been to three Pro Bowls . Gabbert on the other hand was the tenth overall pick, and has been one of the bigger draft busts of the past decade. 4. Le’Veon Bell, RB Michigan State (2013)Mayock’s 94th overall prospect was taken in the second round at pick 48 by the Steelers. He is arguably the most dynamic running back in the NFL and has been to three Pro Bowls. Bell helped revolutionize the position as the ultimate two-way threat as he can even line up at wide receiver. 5. DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson (2013)Despite having some of the most reliable hands in the draft, Hopkins was his fifth rated receiver. He has since been named a First-Team All-Pro twice Bo Jackson Jersey White , and will likely be named one in 2019 for the third year in a row. Hopkins has topped 1,000 yards four seasons, two of which he surpassed 1,500 receiving yards. 6. Mitchell Schwartz, OT, California (2012)Schwartz was Mayock’s eighth rated tackle, and 62nd overall prospect. Six seasons after the Browns made him the third tackle drafted at 37 overall, he has recorded over 100 consecutive career starts and was named a 2018 All-Pro right tackle with the Chiefs. 7. Darius Leonard, LB, South Carolina State (2018)As a rookie, Leonard led the NFL with 163 tackles on top of seven sacks and four forced fumbles. He was named a First-Team All-Pro and is a favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year. Leonard was drafted by the Colts at 36 overall, but he was Mayock’s 87th rated prospect. It’s still early, but this looks like a major whiff for the Raiders new general manager. 8. Kevin White, WR, West Virginia (2015)White broke out as a senior at West Virginia recording over 1,400 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He left an impression on Mayock, who rated him as the highest receiver in the draft over Amari Cooper. Cooper has since topped 1 https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey ,000 yards receiving three times in his four-year career, while White has failed to top 200 yards in a season and has started just five games. 9. Mark Sanchez, QB, USC (2009)After throwing for over 3,000 yards and 34 touchdowns as a junior, Mayock had Sanchez as his highest rated quarterback over Georgia’s Matthew Stafford.and Stafford has recorded over 38,000 passing yards. 10. Anthony Castonzo, OT, Boston College (2011)Castonzo has actually had a productive NFL career having started 116 games at left tackle for the Colts who selected him with the 22nd overall pick. Nevertheless, he appears on this list because Mayock had him rated higher than both Tyron Smith and Nate Solder, who were both drafted higher and are still two of the best offensive tackles in the NFL. He powers through blockers as a blitzer, and was third in the nation in total pressures among safeties (16) according to Pro Football Focus. WeaknessesAbram struggles in coverage when he is given the responsibilities of a free safety, such as playing single-high. He doesn’t have a complete feel for spacing and quarterbacks will attack him when he is out of the box. Abram’s violent style of play increases his risk of injury, and his shoulder was flagged at the Senior Bowl. VerdictIf used correctly Derek Carr Jersey White , Abram is a huge asset to a defense because of his physicality and leadership. His violent tackles can fire up an entire defense, and he has solid pass coverage when he plays closer to the line of scrimmage. Abrams projects as the best strong safety in the 2019 NFL Draft, and is a similar player to former Colts star Bob Sanders. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah ranked Abram as the 23rd overall prospect from the 2019 NFL Draft.Fit with RaidersAbram could either replace Karl Joseph or play alongside him. Abram is a similar player but is younger and bigger. With Abram as a pure strong safety, there is a chance Joseph could move to free safety in Paul Guenther’s defense which doesn’t use pure free and strong safeties. Either way, he gives the Silver & Black a violent presence and leadership that can set the tone for their entire defense. Abram should quickly become a fan favorite with his intense style of play.See BD Williams’s film breakdown here. Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Kyler Murray got slapped with a pair of false start penalties for the motions he was making in calling for the snap Thursday night against the Oakland Raiders.According to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com, Murray said officials too hold him the clapping motions he was making were “too abrupt” and “not smooth enough as far as bringing my hands together.”Clapping to trigger a snap has become more prominent in college football in recent years. The action itself is legal but the manner in which Murray was executing it was deemed to have crossed a line in simulating a snap.“A player who is in position to receive the snap in shotgun formation is permitted to shift his feet prior to the snap, but any quick and abrupt movement is a False Start. This includes thrusting his hands forward when there is not a simultaneous snap.”“I think it’s the first time for certain officials to see it, and we’ve been in contact with the league and had a great conversation on it,” Kingsbury said. “We’re going to work through that and make sure everybody’s on the same page. We want to be on the same page as them and make sure we’re doing things that they deem legal.”“To me, it’s like any other hard count,” Murray said. “It’s the defense’s job to watch the ball, so it really doesn’t make sense to me. I think we’re trying to fix things right now.”That isn’t the way Carl Cheffers’ crew saw it on Thursday night. If that’s the standard the rest of the crews are going to follow, Murray and the Cardinals may have to adjust their procedures slightly to compensate.
After Sunday’s 27-16 loss to the Packers Courtland Sutton Jersey White , is “living in a world of suck” right now.Head coach Vic Fangio was asked at Monday’s press conference about his reaction to that comment and said that the team’s players and coaches all expect more out of their on-field work than they’ve gotten at this point.“He was just repeating what I had said in the locker room after the game,” Fangio said, via Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com. “So, I told [the team] we’re going to have to deal everybody thinking we suck and — you know all of us, not just players, coaches, the whole organization — and we need to deal with that. He was basically just repeating what I had said.”Fangio said he’s cognizant of the toll that consistent losing can take on a locker room and that the team doesn’t have “our head in the sand” on that topic, but added he feels confident that the team has the “right kind of guys” to take steps in a better direction. Adam “Pacman” Jones’ short stint in Denver is over. The Broncos waived the 14-year veteran Tuesday after he’d appeared in seven games, posting nine tackles and one interception and three pass breakups.Jones posted聽a thank you note聽on Instagram, saying, “Well Denver, it was good. Thanks for the opportunity!!! On to the next !!!”At 35, Jones might have a hard time finding another team in need of a cornerback/kick returner. He signed with Denver in August. Coach Vance Joseph, who once served as an assistant in Cincinnati, vouched for Jones Joe Flacco Jersey , who spent eight seasons with the Bengals.Jones was the Broncos’ leading punt returner with 10, albeit for a 2.5-yard average, and he returned four kickoffs for a 21.3-yard average.Cutting Jones would seem to indicate that the Broncos expect Bradley Roby, who’s in concussion protocol, to play Sunday when the Pittsburgh Steelers (7-2-1) visit Denver (4-6).The other cornerbacks are starter Chris Harris Jr., Tramaine Brock and rookie Isaac Yiadom. The Broncos on Tuesday also signed free agent Cyrus Kouandjio (KWAN-jo), a tackle who played three games in Denver last season, including the finale at right tackle, and was cut this summer.A fifth-year pro with 28 games of NFL experience (he was with the Bills from 2014-16), Kouandjio replaces guard Max Garcia, who tore his left ACL last week at practice. The Broncos placed Garcia on injured reserve Tuesday. He’s the third starting O-lineman lost for the season to injury, joining guard Ronald Leary (Achilles) and center Matt Paradis (broken right leg). With the rash of injuries, the Broncos had to start two tackles (Billy Turner and Elijah Wilkinson) at guard and guard Connor McGovern at center. The makeshift O-line wasn’t whistled for any penalties and didn’t allow any sacks in Denver’s 23-22 win in Los Angeles that snapped the Chargers’ six-game winning streak.
Andrew Wingard Womens Bryce Love Jersey , SSchool: Wyoming | Conference: Mountain WestCollege Experience: Senior | Age: 21?Height / Weight: 6-0 / 205 lbsProjected Draft Status: 6th or 7th RoundNFL Comparison: Kavon FrazierCollege StatisticsPlayer OverviewAndrew Wingard was a 2-star running back recruit when he committed to Wyoming back in 2015. Wingard is from Arvada, Colorado and was interested in staying in the state and playing for the University of Colorado but he was never offered a scholarship by the program. Instead it was only Wyoming and North Dakota that offered him scholarships. Having chosen the former Wingard was moved to safety his freshman season and quickly became one of the most productive safeties in all of college football. There is no question that if Wingard went to a power five school and put up the numbers he did during his career he might be in the 4th or 5th round conversation instead of being projected on day 3. That is part of Wingard’s journey to the pro’s and he knows it. He loves being the underdog and plays with a chip on his shoulder. He has to prove that he can be just as aggressive, reliable, and productive against top competition. He started that process at the East West Shrine game and will continue it at the NFL combine. He is extremely good in run support and looks better than some linebackers out there on the field. If Wingard can test well look for him to move up in the draft come April. StrengthsGood size, strength, and toughness for the position. He flies to the football all over the field and gets into the thick of things constantly.Reliable and prolific as a tackler. Shows decent technique and decent speed to power conversion.Particularly a weapon against the run and pressuring the QB. He can come up to the LOS quickly and use his vision and instincts to quickly impact a play. Can shed blocks and work his way to the ball through all the mess. Has good vision working downhill.WeaknessesNeeds to improve technique in pass coverage. While he has a not insignificant amount of interceptions in his career unfortunately those were more from errant throws than him reading the QBs eyes and working his way back across the receiver in coverage. Stiff hips limit him in his back peddle and bail technique. He has decent athleticism but nothing special. Lacks the speed to remain playing deep. It will not only limit him to a box safety but probably also limit him as a backup safety who contributes mainly on special teams. Doesn’t have the agility, instincts, range, and anticipatory skills you want to see out of the position. Late to recognize and cover field once the ball is thrown.Let’s see his work:More Andrew Wingard videosHow He Would Fit On The RedskinsAs the Redskins safety situation currently stands Deshazor Everett and Troy Apke are slated to be starters next year since Clinton-Dix has yet to be re-signed and may not be. Monte Nicholson still has uncertainty regarding his situation and could face possibly disciplinary action from the team or from the league. Not only do the Redskins need to get their starting safeties in order they need to desperately improve depth at the position. Wingard can come in and be that backup physical box safety that the team needs not only in a pinch but also on special teams. He has the skillset not only to make the final 53 on the roster but to stick around the NFL for a while a key special teams contributor and the Redskins need help on that front as well. If the Redskins were ever so bold, there are even a couple situations where I can see Wingard on the field as a ‘linebacker’ to help defend against mobile QBs. As to if Wingard can develop and be more than a backup? Maybe but I wouldn’t hold my breath with new defensive backs coach Ray Horton on doing so. If Wingard goes in the range he is currently projected he would be a solid and reliable investment that would make the special teams unit better. And now seems like a good time to remind you all, with the team’s new special teams coordinator the unit will need all the help it can get. Fischer of College Football Metrics:Click this link to access all 2018 and 2019 Undrafted Free Agent profiles on Hogs HavenWhy would a player who excites a professional scouting service in this way end up undrafted?Well, like the recently profiled T.J. Rahming, Steven Sims, Jr. is an undersized athlete who played in an unheralded, and, in Sims’ case, losing program.Over the past three years, Kansas has gone 2-10, 1-11, 3-9.In addition, the program just doesn’t have a ‘reputation’ for producing NFL quality offensive players.Furthermore, Sims can’t boast any eye-popping raw stats from college, aside from some pretty impressive punt return stats. In 2016, his sophomore season, Steven Sims had 72 catches, 859 yards, 7 TDs. That’s solid, but not the kind of production that really stands out.But taken in context, Sims’ 7 TDs represented 44% of the TD passes for Kansas QBs in 2016.The passes in his best statistical season came fromthree bad quarterbacks who combined for 16 touchdown passes and 22 interceptions.Sims went on to catch 6 of the team’s 14 TDs in 2017 and 4 out of 17 in 2018.So, we’ve got a good, though small-bodied player on a losing team, with production that fell over his final three seasons. These are not things that usually get a player noticed or drafted. But maybe SIms is the wide receiver equivalent of Wes Martin, the Redskins’ under-the-radar 4th round offensive lineman from Indiana.Maybe Sims has the skills to make the roster and do some damage in the NFL.Let me give you a few more nuggets from College Football Metrics, who love Sims as a player:4.35 40-time (maybe a 4.30 that needs bumped to a 4.35 because of the Pro Day fudge factor)1.49 10-yard split6.7s for a three-cone5’9”/5’10” and 180 +/-pounds. Hoping he has 9”+ hands. The Report goes on to compare Steven Sims to these players:Emmanuel SandersAldrick RobinsonPhillip DorsettTyreek HillBrandin CooksCorey ColemanYouTube Highlight reelOf course, for any UDFA trying to make the Redskins team, the ability to contribute on special teams is critical.Steven Sims is a really small dude who wasn’t drafted.Chances are, the only way he makes it onto the Redskins roster is as a punt returner specialist.Fortunately for him, he has some credentials. It’s true that Sims had limited work as a punt returner, with only 26 returns in his 4-year career, but he averaged a whopping 21.7 yards per return, and in his Junior year had 14 returns for 355 yards - an incredible 25.4 yards per return. In other words, this guy was giving his team a quarter of the field back — probably half the punt distance — on his average returns in 2017.Sims was a part-time returner for the team https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-terry-mclaurin-jersey , putting up his best numbers as a junior.Like his other stats, they aren’t eye-popping, but he does at least have some experience as a return man.One might be led by the glowing scouting report above to think that Steven Sims, Jr. may be another hidden diamond uncovered by Doug Williams, Kyle Smith, Tim Gribble and the rest of the scouting department.Personally, I’m excited to see this young man on the field in burgundy and gold during the pre-season!But my opinion is being shaped by a guy I don’t know and I’m not convinced I can trust.I’m very interested in the opinion of Jason FitzGerald, who regularly gives us his take on the Redskins UDFAs.I wonder if he’ll be as gushingly positive about this undrafted free agent as R.C. Fischer is.James FitzGerald (@GMDfitz7765) is a former college player, high school coach, and an avid college football fan who has spent hours in the film room watching opponents and his own teams. His analytical skill adds depth to these profiles that I can’t supply on my own.Let’s see what he has to say.Fitz’s film reviewFilm Watched: Kansas vs. WVU, Kansas vs. Oklahoma StateSteven Sims Jr. is strong for his for his size. With the ball in his hands against Oklahoma State he was able to stiff-arm a defender to gain a few extra yards; he also broke a few tackles to turn a stop on third down into a first down.Sims is also a strong blocker. Kansas’s offense was based around the running back, and Steven Sims played his role well. If he wants to make the Redskins team, he is going to have to show off his blocking ability in camp.He has a very high motor. Sims is always going the extra mile to make a block down field or to salvage a few positive yards on a sniffed out screen. This former Jayhawk is an explosive player with a high acceleration level. He is not particularly fast, but he builds up speed quickly to gain yards after the catch.Sims also finds space to run. He takes good angles that make the defense miss. Sims’ downside is mostly related to his diminutive stature.Sims is a bit under 5’9. He is not tall for an NFL wide receiver, although there have been players his size that have had success. Because of his size, he, at times, got lost in coverage on the field; when the QB threw it his way, he wasn’t where he was supposed to be. Also, his route tree is limited and he was used mostly on screen plays. That may not be his fault, however. The Kansas offense was mostly based on the running back (look out for Pooka Williams BTW). Sims also had three different QBs throwing to him throughout the season, so put asterisk on this weakness. How would he fit with the Redskins? Steven Sims Jr. has to be a part of special teams to make the regular season roster. He was not the main punt or kick returner on film at Kansas, but he did return a few. Sims has the ability to make the 53-man roster, but the Redskins have a few people that already have his skill set.To avoid getting cut or ending up on the practice squad, he will have to beat out our current return men for that spot, and he has a shot at doing that if he can shine in preseason. In comparing him to T.J. wide receiver, who is roughtly the same size, with a similar skill set, Sims, in my opinion, has a better chance to make the team. So, James FitzGerald’s view of Steven Sims, while generally positive, is not the gushing praise given by College Football Metrics, who may have had an interest in pumping up the prospect.Looking at the Washington draft, and, now, two small, speedy UDFA receivers, I get the distinct feeling that the mission this off-season was to get faster as a team.I doubt whether Sims can win a roster spot on his receiving skills alone, but he may have the opportunity to secure a roster spot primarily as the specialist return man, and slot in as the 6th receiver on the depth chart. To do that, he will have to show incredible explosiveness as a returner in preseason but it will be interesting to see how well the skills of this largely unheralded player translate to the NFL field.
With questions swirling around Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey , talk that Mike Tomlin doesn’t have a tight enough rein on his players and doubt cast about Ben Roethlisberger‘s leadership, the drama around the Pittsburgh Steelers organization recently would make for great reality television. That’s what Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt thinks. Watt said on that he calls his brother, Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt, to find out what’s going on with the team.“It does seem very dramatic. It’s like somebody that’s watching the Kardashians, and I can call one of the Kardashians. I’ll call my brother, I see everything on TV, and I’ll be like Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , ‘OK, give me the real story.’ And it’s pretty wild. It’s pretty wild,” Watt said.J.J. didn’t offer any specifics about the “pretty wild” things T.J. has told him. But just the information that has become public is plenty dramatic. And until we know the status of Bell and Brown, more drama is ahead. JuJu Smith-Schuster was diplomatic in most of his comments about Antonio Brown on Wednesday, even when prodded. Asked about Brown’s tweet criticizing Smith-Schuster for fumbling against New Orleans with 32 seconds left, the Steelers now No. 1 receiver didn’t bite. “At the end of the day, that’s his opinion Womens James Conner Jersey ,” Smith-Schuster said, via Joe Rutter of the . “For myself, I stand from afar. I’m not worried about what he’s got going on with his team. I wish him nothing but the best. He’s a great player. He dominates on the field. I’m worrying about the guys we have here, my teammates and how I can be great on and off the field.”Smith-Schuster, though, admits it is quieter around Pittsburgh without Brown, whom the Steelers traded to the Raiders in March.“The chemistry is on point T. J. Watt Jersey White ,” Smith-Schuster said, via Will Graves of the Associated Press. “Everyone is on the same page. Everyone is communicating. There’s really no — how do you say? — drama in our locker room.”Smith-Schuster also took a veiled shot at Brown, saying he has no pressure to match the numbers Brown posted in his nine seasons in Pittsburgh. The Pro Bowl receiver leaves Pittsburgh having contributed 11,207 receiving yards and 74 touchdowns, an average of 1,245 yards and eight touchdowns per season.Despite replacing Brown as the team’s featured wideout, Smith-Schuster vows not to let his statistics get in the way of the team goal. “I’m looking at mine Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , my own team, how we do and how we win,” Smith-Schuster said, via Graves. “I’m fine. I would take five catches for 30 yards and win the game than have 10 catches, two touchdowns. It’s not really about myself at the end of the day. It’s about the Super Bowl.”It will take a village to replace Brown. Smith-Schuster concedes that.Washington, Donte Moncrief, third-round pick Diontae Johnson Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey , Eli Rogers and Ryan Switzer.Only 22, Smith-Schuster finds himself the leader in the receivers room.“There’s no need for me to go out of my way and yell at the guys,” Smith-Schuster said. “We’re all adults here. They also had a team-first, leave-it-all-on-the field guy. But going into year five, they decided they could do without that, so they cut Lee Smith in favor of rookie fourth round pick Foster Moreau.Even at 31 years old, several other teams jumped at the chance to add the 6-6, 265-pounder to their squad. Smith chose to go back to where his career began Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , signing a three-year deal with the Buffalo Bills. But he didn’t take a discount to do so. He didn’t have to because he had several suitors.Caplan went on to say there were at least six teams competing for Smith’s services. It may sound like hyperbole to describe Smith as I did. It really isn’t though. He makes a living as a goon who pushes around his defender and plays through the whistle. And as big as tight ends normally are, Smith is bigger. He is an imposing figure on the field. He makes the other also large tight ends look small standing next to him.The team-first part comes from his willingness to restructure his contract prior to the 2017 season to make most of his contract non-guaranteed with the only way he earns his money is through play time incentives. He would ultimately earn his pay, and was even signed to his $1.1 million 2019 roster bonus at the end of last season. He was also the only player to come out publicly and angrily defend Derek Carr from the allegations of a fractured relationship between Derek Carr and his offensive line. Smith defended the Raiders’ locker room dynamic, calling it a “brotherhood” and the reports “horse shit.”Whether he’s correct about that or whether you believe him or not, he was right to step up and say something. It was the right thing to say at the right time. It’s not surprise there were quite a few teams who want that presence on the field and in their locker room. He was called the Godfather as the voice of the Raiders for over two decades. That run came to an end prior to last season as Papa was unceremoniously removed and replaced by the lackluster voice of former longtime color commentator Brent Musburger.Raiders radio broadcasts last season went from knowledgable and energetic to drab and lethargic. Fans who were known to turn the sound off on the TV and turn on the local broadcast now more often just go with the national broadcasters.Adding salt to the wounds, this offseason Papa immediately began calling pre- and postgame for 49ers games last season. And as soon as the season was over, it was announced he would become the 49ers play-by-play voice. Which is just weird. While Papa was calling games for the Raiders Bo Jackson Jersey , he also hosted an incredibly popular show on 95.7 The Game with Bonta Hill. That show continued after Papa was replaced for games. Until now.Papa is completing his clean break from the Raiders and his former gig by leaving 95.7 The Game altogether and joining the 49ers flagship station, KNBR 680, The Athletic is reporting. 95.7 cut back considerably on their Silver & Black talk. The team calls 740 AM “The Home of the Raiders” while select games will be heard in the Bay Area on 95.7 as well as 106.9 KFRC-FM.Papa no longer calling Raiders games was the end of an era that began in 1997. He landed on his feet with the 49ers scooping him up. Leaving 95.7 leaves no remnants of him associated with the Raiders which is pretty sad. Raiders fans can be angry at him for making the most of his situation or wish him well. I’d suggest the latter.Regardless of who you feel like blaming for this, the play-by-play work of the 80-year-old Brent Musburger won’t help you feel better about it. Hopefully the team will find a more suitable replacement soon.Follow @LeviDamien
There were only two changes in the inactives relative to game two for the Denver Broncos. Broncos inactivesPlayerPositionPlayerPositionNote that Todd Davis and Juwann Winfree were active for the Green Bay Packers game while Alexander Johnson and River Cracraft were inactive. The other five were unchanged from game two. Alexander Johnson did not play a single defensive snap in games one or two Joe Flacco Jersey White , but he did get in on 13 special teams snaps in each of the previous two games. Offensive Snaps and Snap PercentageFor the second week in a row, our offensive line played the entire game together. I will reiterate, this is a good thing. Being familiar with the offensive lineman playing on either side of you makes the play of the entire unit better. Both Courtland Sutton and Emmanuel Sanders played the vast majority of the WR snaps (89% and 79%) while DaeSean Hamilton (58%) was on the field for more than half of our offensive snaps. Juwann Winfree was only on the field 14% of the time. According to NFLGSIS, we have yet to use a 4-WR set this season (although we may have split Noah Fant or Phillip Lindsay out wide). Fant (63%) and Jeff Heuerman (49%) were in on offense roughly half of the time, but they were used differently. Fant was in on 23 passing plays (22 routes, 1 pass block) and 23 running plays while Heuerman was in on 14 passing plays (11 routes, 3 pass block) and 22 running plays. If you trust PFF, Jeff Heuerman was our highest graded offensive player for this game with and overall grade of 78.3; Jeff’s 85.2 rating on routes he ran was the best on the team in game three. While Lindsay (56%) and Royce Freeman (49%) again split the RB reps evenly. Troy Fumagalli was only used on 8 offensive snaps (5 passing plays where he ran a route and 3 runs where he blocked) and was not targeted in the passing game. Devontae Booker again failed to get a single offensive snap. Andrew Beck, our de facto FB, saw his highest utilization of the season with 23 offensive snaps. I am sure this helped the run game. Defensive Snaps and Snap PercentageWe relied on our best defensive Broncos hard again this game. Justin Simmons again played every defensive snap while Todd Davis (98%), Bradley Chubb (98%), Kareem Jackson (98%), Chirs Harris (96%) and Von Miller (93%) barely left the field on defense. Shelby Harris (79%) was forced to play more than normal with the injury to Derek Wolfe (19%). 79% of the defensive snaps is a career high for him. Dre’Mont Jones got a few more snaps (14 up from 9 in the game before), but Adam Gostis (77%) and DeMarcus Walker (40%) were the recipients of Wolfe’s snaps. Walker played 40% of the defensive snaps (23) both of which were career highs in a meaningful NFL game (he played more in week 17 of 2017 when our JV played the KC JV). Josey Jewell (74%) was given some rest in this game after he got exposed in coverage a few times, but it was Will Parks (74%) who get the increased snaps and not Justin Hollins (9%) or Corey Nelson (11%). Nelson’s role on the defense was significantly reduced from both game 1 and game 2 (thankfully). Similarly Isaac Yiadom was effectively benched after getting burned yet again in coverage (14 snaps, 25%) while De’Vante Bausby (74%) essentially took his CB3 role. Bausby did not play a single defensive snap in games 1 or 2. PFF graded him at 83.8 in coverage, which was the best coverage grade on the team for game 3. Malik Reed got his handful of defensive snaps (4) in relief of Von Miller. Trey Marshall played two disastrous defensive snaps. Duke Dawson got his first defensive snap of the season. Offensively, besides Booker, Diontae Spencer, Austin Schlottman and Jake Rodgers were active but did not play a single offensive snap. On defense, Keishawn Bierria and Davontae Harris were the only defenders to not play a defensive snap. Bierria and Booker both played on 62% of the special teams snaps which was second only to Malik Reed’s 88% of the special teams snaps. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Patrick Mahomes had another 300-yard passing day with four touchdowns. Kareem Hunt had another hurdling Womens Courtland Sutton Jersey , tackle-breaking touchdown that gave the Chiefs a lead they’d never surrender.Travis Kelce and Sammy Watkins produced huge games, too, as the high-powered Kansas City offense once again made the incredible look downright casual in a 30-23 victory over Denver on Sunday that finished off a season sweep of the Broncos.“When we’re clicking and spreading the ball around,” Mahomes said, “we’re really tough to stop.”You could make a case for nearly impossible. The only team to beat the Chiefs (7-1) so far has been New England, and it took the Patriots scoring 43 points at home to win by a field goal. The Broncos (3-5) never came that close Sunday.Mahomes finished with 303 yards passing for his franchise-record seventh consecutive 300-yard performance. He joined Andrew Luck (eight games in 2014) and Drew Brees (seven games in 2011) as the only quarterbacks in league history with seven consecutive games with at least 300 passing yards in a season.Mahomes also became the fourth quarterback in NFL history to throw at least four touchdown passes in three consecutive games, joining Brees (three games in 2011), Peyton Manning (five games in 2004) and Hall of Famer Dan Marino (four games in 1984).Watkins had 107 yards and two of the TD catches, and Kelce and Hunt had the other two, as the Chiefs won for the 19th time in their past 21 games against the AFC West rivals.“There were some good individual efforts there,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, rattling off most of those same names before adding, almost as an afterthought: “Obviously our young quarterback was involved, too.”Obviously.Case Keenum had 262 yards passing and two scores for the Broncos (3-5), while Phillip Lindsay had a big day in his first career start. The undrafted rookie had 95 yards rushing and a TD while catching three passes and providing a spark out of the backfield.Still, that production couldn’t help the Broncos overcome their own sloppiness. They were flagged 10 times for 83 yards, several of the penalties wiping out big gains — and that doesn’t include a few that were declined or offsetting, including a personal foul on defensive tackle Derek Wolfe.“We can’t beat ourselves against this team. We know that,” said Broncos cornerback Chris Harris, whose team has lost seven straight to the Chiefs. “We got to be smart and we didn’t play smart enough here. We got to figure it out, why we keep having these same things happen every week.”Kansas City failed to score on its initial drive for the first time all season, and instead it was the Broncos jumping in front when Lindsay scored from a yard out midway through the first quarter. The Chiefs quickly found their stride Womens Von Miller Jersey , though.Harrison Butker hit a chip-shot field goal, Kelce made a tough touchdown catch in traffic and Watkins found the soft spot in the middle of the Denver defense to haul in his first TD grab. Denver had no answer until the closing seconds, when Tim Patrick had his first career touchdown catch.Still, the Chiefs took a 16-14 lead into the locker room. And they weren’t done.Watkins, signed in the offseason to take some pressure off Tyreek Hill, showed his own game-breaking ability early in the third quarter. He had a 24-yard reception to move Kansas City downfield, and his 10-yard strike from Mahomes added to the Chiefs’ cushion. The Broncos, meanwhile, kept stumbling through costly miscues. Two more penalties on their first possession of the half resulted in a shanked punt that gave Kansas City prime field position, and it took just four plays for Hunt to reach the end zone for the 10th time this season. The reigning NFL rushing champion took an inside pitch from Mahomes — a pass, technically — and ran through two tackles, hurdled Will Parks and dragged fellow safety Justin Simmons into the end zone. The highlight-reel catch-and-run came after another hurdling run by Hunt a week ago.Denver tried to come back in the fourth quarter, when Jeff Heuerman caught a fourth-down touchdown catch. But the Broncos failed to convert the 2-point conversion, then Keenum threw a pick after they’d managed to get the ball back, foiling their best chance to make it a game.“It is disappointing, but you got to go back to work on Sundays,” Lindsay said. “It’s time to get us a win. Having a second top 10 pick in a row, the Broncos must identify the future of their franchise. With positions of need at linebacker and defensive line, will the Broncos go defense in this years draft? In the NFL being able to pressure the opposing QB with only three or four pass rushers is essential to stopping opposing offenses. The flip-side of that is that some QB’s are just better against the blitz than others. So far this year, by passer rating Bradley Chubb Jersey White , Matt Stafford has been the best QB in the league vs the blitz (five or more pass rushers) with a passer rating of 128.3. Conversely, Sam Darnold has been the worst with a passer rating of 30.6. Joe Flacco is currently ranked 27th in the league vs the blitz with a rating of 74.9. See the full table below. All data is from ESPN.com via Elias Sports Bureau. We should not be surprised by Flacco’s rating. He has been fairly bad against the blitz since his first few years in the league. You can see his year-by-year performance in this table. The data was missing for 2011, 2017 and 2018 (no idea why). Flacco missed the entire 2016 season with an ACL tear. I don’t know that Brandon Allen or Drew Lock is going to be an improvement. You can see from the full table of 2019 QB’s that many rookie and/or second year QB’s are struggling against the blitz. I do know that both Brandon Allen and Drew Lock could beat a turtle in a foot race, so they will at least be a threat to scramble on plays where the OL allows immediate pressure (and there will be many of those with our starting OT’s). The performance of Kyle Allen should give us some hope. Despite being an undrafted rookie thrust into a starting role, Allen has handled the blitz fairly well so far this season.

That’s what we’re hoping for, but all three of these guys are good players and they’re going to make their share of great throws and great plays. We just have to continue to monitor them and figure out who gives us the best chance at winning against Philly.”Gruden offered praise for both of the primary contenders who played against the Browns.“He came in there second quarter and put a couple back-to-back passes that were really nice out there,” Gruden said regarding rookie Dwayne Haskins. “He had a couple of turnovers, which hurt him. The big thing is we’re trying to really get corrected is just everything — his fundamentals, protectionsm and all that stuff which will come. But Bryce Love Washington Redskins Jersey , for his first game I thought he handled the pressure, the noise, the cadence, the huddle, the tempo I thought was really good, so there is a lot to build on. He kept the drive going against their [first-string] defense. We were first-and-10 at midfield and we had that unfortunate holding call which was or wasn’t a holding call. But I thought he moved the ball pretty well, had a big third-down-and-15 touchdown pass, saw the field, stepped up and threw a nice touchdown. The Pittsburgh Steelers might be coming off of their most convincing win of 2018 Isaiah Buggs Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey , but that is still not enough to prevent them from being underdogs for the first time this season in their matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6, according to Las Vegas. While an opening line of 3-points has made the Bengals marginal favorites for the game, the line began to fall almost the second it was posted, with most bookmakers currently offering no higher than 2.5-points. Given the Steelers’ recent record in Cincinnati and their overall dominance of the series as of late, it should be expected that this line will continue to drop. Pittsburgh has won its last six in a row against the Bengals and nine of their last 10 Isaiah Buggs Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey , with their last defeat coming in 2015. The Steelers also are 10-2 versus Cincinnati in Paul Brown Stadium since Mike Tomlin took charge of the team in 2007, their home away from home.An initial totals position of 54.5 is still widely available at the time of this writing, and there shouldn’t be too much movement in the coming days. Pittsburgh scoring 41 points on Sunday seems to have done little to convince gamblers that the under is a good bet.The early moneyline price of +106 to -125 has already seen some action on the Bengals, and the best price currently on offer is +120 to -140. ALAMEDA Cheap Johnathan Abram Jersey , Calif. (AP) — pick in next year’s draft if quarterback Derek Carr has any say in it.For the 15th time in the last 16 seasons, the Raiders will finish no better than .500, and that’s if they run the table over the final six weeks.Barring a sudden turnaround Oakland is headed for another top five pick in the draft. Ellis is the team’s best run defender but Gruden declined to say whether he would be activated this week. . From day one he has been extremely excited to be a Raider and to get to play with Derek Carr. The two of them worked out in the offseason along with other receivers. It’s important to remind everyone that these practices are voluntary. However, OTA’s are important, especially when it comes to new players. Getting together on the field with coaches in organized drills with opponents for the first time on a new team means something.“I think it’s a lot different. The timing, like the actual timing,” said fellow receiver Tyrell Williams. “You can throw as many routes as you want on air and complete 100 out of 100, but when you get on defense and just feeling the timing and where the defense is going to be in coverage, it makes it a lot different, so getting that timing is important.”You’d like to see the Raiders’ newest top receiving weapon on the field with his new team. You’d like to see him eager to be there, participating, even if he doesn’t have to be.He was present for phase two, so he hasn’t simply been off doing his own thing. And hopefully he will be here soon. It is just a little strange that, based on his enthusiasm thus far that he wouldn’t be on the field from day one of OTA’s.Follow @LeviDamien
Coach Derek Wolfe Jersey , he made this statement: That phrase “from the ground up” along with “death by inches” were the two themes from Fangio’s introductory press conference. It came up again when he was asked what would determined success in his first year as a head coach for the Broncos. Fangio replied: And again when going into detail about developing young players, the coach reiterated thatthe coaches must start “from the ground up”.Vic Fangio knows a thing or two about building things from the ground up. His last three years in Chicago are the ultimate example of that. The year before he joined the team, the Bears fielded the 30th ranked defense in total yards, and 31st ranked points per game. The roster Fangio inherited a roster that was one of the oldest in the NFL. The talent on defense consisted of a 33 year-old Jared Allen, an injured and 34 year-old Lance Briggs, a 31 year-old Tim Jennings, 34 year-old Jay Ratliff, and 32 year-old, oft-injured DJ Williams. As far as young talent to develop, he also inherited a parade of whiffed draft picks from the previous administration including failed 2012 first round pick, Shea McClellin; 2013 second round pick, Jon Bostic, who lost the training camp starting competition every year; and 2014 second and third round defensive linemen, Will Sutton and Ego Ferguson. Sutton now plays in the AAF, and Ferguson is a free agent.2014 first rounder, Kyle Fuller was the only piece on defense Fangio had to build from when he stepped into the Chicago defensive coordinator role in 2015. Just four seasons later, after steadily improving each year, the Bears would field the #1 defense in the NFL.How did he get there? By starting from the ground up, not only with the entire roster, but with each player as he began to bring in talent to develop. In a recent piece by Woody Paige in the Gazette, Fangio spoke to the joy he gets from teaching and developing players. That approach is exactly how Fangio built his defense in Chicago. The starting roster of that great 2018 defense who led the league with 36 takeaways, one of the best marks of the last five years, was built piece by piece by Fangio, his staff, and GM, Ryan Pace.2015The first draft out of the gate Max Garcia Jersey , added NT Eddie Goldman in the 2nd round, Safety, Adrian Amos (who I would love Denver to chase this offseason) in the 5th round, and signed nickel corner Bryce Callahan as an undrafted free agent, who has become one of the better nickel corners in the league over the last two years.2016The Bears signed Danny Trevathan and Akiem Hicks in free agency. While Trevathan had already broken out as a player, former New Orleans Saints 3rd rounder Hicks fits Fangio’s description of a player who it didn’t work out for his original team, and then reached their full potential under his tutelage. Hicks was traded to the Patriots in the last year of his rookie deal, and then signed to a two-year $10 million ‘prove it’ contract in Chicago. Since then, Hicks has become one of the top interior lineman in the NFL.Here’s what Hicks had to say about being coached by Fangio in Chicago: The Bears also picked up edge rusher, Leonard Floyd in the first round, and rotational defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard in the second.2017Corner Prince Amukamara was the next veteran reclamation project for Fangio and his staff, as Prince never fully lived up to his first round draft status with the New York Giants, and had spent the 2016 season as 3rd corner in Jacksonville on a one year $5.5 million contract. Amukamara was signed by the Bears for another one-year ‘prove it’ deal worth $7 million, and was re-signed to a three-year extension worth $27 million the next season. This was also the year the Bears selected safety Eddie Jackson in the 4th round, who has since taken the league by storm, becoming one of the top young safeties in the game.2018The stage was set for the final pieces to be added. The Bears drafted rookie sensation, Roquan Smith at linebacker in the first, and traded for edge rusher, Kalil Mack. The Bears also drafted defensive lineman, Bilal Nichols in the fifth round, who began to rotate in as a starter in base fronts mid-way through the season. This puts the tally for Fangio’s starting 2018 defense at three homegrown first round picks (Fuller, Floyd, Smith), two veteran reclamation projects (Amukamara, Hicks), two established player acquisitions (Trevathan Cheap Dalton Risner Jersey , Mack), a second round pick (Goldman), fourth round pick (Jackson), fifth round pick (Amos), and an undrafted free agent (Callahan). If you weren’t already excited about what Vic Fangio and his staff will do here in Denver, thisshould fire Broncos Country up about what is possible with them on board. While it struggled a bit last year, Denver’s defense already has much more talent than the Bears’ did when he took over in 2015. I’m looking forward to watching this staff teach and develop the players that are already here, while also infusing the team with new talent. Fangio’s already proven he can do it in this league. It’s almost time for him to get to work doing it in Denver. Chris Harris compared he and Von Miller to Shaq and Kobe. When asked who is who, Harris raised his hand and said, “I’m Shaq.”Shaq and Kobe eventually broke up, and it appears headed that way with Harris and Miller. The Broncso defenders are entering their ninth season together, but while Miller is signed to a long-term deal, Harris is in the final year of his contract.“I feel like this year I have even more of a chip on my shoulder,” Harris said, via Nicki Jhabvalaof TheAthletic.com. “If you’re not motivated in this league, I don’t know what kind of player you are. I don’t know if I want to play with you.”Harris missed much of the team’s offseason program while seeking a new deal. He didn’t get an extension, but Harris did return after the Broncos revised his deal for this season. The four-time Pro Bowler has his sights set on becoming the highest-paid player at his position. He needs to back up his talk with his play, duplicating what he did in 2016 when he made the All-Pro team. The Broncos have not decided how much nickel corner Harris will play, coach Vic Fangio said. But Harris does have some catching up to do. “He’s going to have to dive in and really learn the ins-and-outs of what we’re doing because he missed a couple months,” Fangio said, via Kyle Fredrickson of . “. . .He’s a little bit behind, and he’s got two positions to learn.”Harris said he’s all football, all the time, so it won’t take him long to get where he needs to be.
