He has the Titans picking 12th and taking, you guessed it, a tight end. I have a couple of problems with this:As Caleb Wilson, @agr934, pointed out on Twitter, if the Titans are picking 12th they are taking a QB.WHY DOES EVERY DRAFT ANALYST INSIST ON GIVING THE TITANS A TE IN THE FIRST ROUND OF EVERY SINGLE MOCK DRAFT EVERY SINGLE YEAR???!?? I understand how old Delanie Walker will be next year and blah, blah, blah. It isn’t happening. The tight end that Kadar has the Titans taking is Albert Okwuegbunam from Missouri. Dan’s comments:I will probably have to learn how to spell his name because death, taxes and people mocking a TE to the Titans in the first even though THEY NEVER ACTUALLY TAKE ONE! Walker also added nearly 1 Bruce Matthews Jersey ,000 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns as a receiver.Walker spoke exclusively to MCM about how a tragic injury to his older brother Brian serves as his motivation, how he attacks man coverage differently from zone, and what he loves about being a return man. JM: For our readers who are still getting familiar with Michael Walker, how would you describe your skill set?MW: There’s a lot more to my game than just being a return man. I obviously have speed to burn. I play with a lot of agility as well. I also have the route running ability to be successful at the next level.JM: You grew up in a bit of a baseball family. Your uncle Pete Walker played 11 years as a pro and is now the pitching coach for the Toronto Blue Jays. Your uncle Andrew played college baseball as well. How did you end up playing football?MW: I played both sports growing up. I was lucky enough to have a lot of influence from my family. My dad played baseball as well. My brother Brian was a big football player. He actually ended up breaking his neck in high school. That was a big deal for my family. It gave me some extra drive and motivation. I wanted to see this out for him, I wanted to play football for him. That’s how it all ended up happening.JM: Wow. He must be enjoying this process as much you are right now.MW: Oh yeah, for sure. He would definitely be doing the same thing that I’m doing right now. He just didn’t get his shot. It’s pretty cool.JM: This is a special process for you then. Earlier you mentioned having the ability to run great routes. Do you have a favorite route to run?MW: I’m fine running anything that my coaches want me to run. I wouldn’t say there’s one particular route that I like to run more than another route.JM: How do you attack man coverage versus zone?MW: If I’m going up against someone that plays man coverage, it depends if it’s press man or off man. If it’s press man, you want to get up on his toes so you can create separation. With off man, it’s a similar situation. You wanna get up on his toes and do something subtle. If you’re subtle with your movements, you can create the separation you’re looking for. With zone, it’s more about reading the defense and identifying where the holes are. They’re gonna leave some gaps available to you when playing zone.JM: You’re more than a return man, but you’re pretty electrifying back there. What do you enjoy about being a return man?MW: I love both, punt returning and kick returning. I love having the opportunity to get the ball in my hands. It’s all about making a big play for your team. I just love the thrill I get from being apart of special teams. It also allows me to get on the field as much as I can. It’s a lot of fun being able to do that.JM: Is there one combine drill in particular that you’re looking forward to participating in?MW: I’ve always loved the 5-10-5 drill. That’s always been one of my favorite drills and I’ve always tested well doing that.JM: Boston College’s strength and conditioning coach Frank Piraino recently accepted the same role with the Tennessee Titans. What kinda guy are the Titans getting in Piraino?MW: I was pretty close with coach Piraino. He’s a great guy aside from what he knows from a strength and conditioning standpoint. He’s a top shelf coach when it comes to that but there’s more to him than that. He’s a great guy and he really took the time to get to know all of us on a personal level. It was cool to learn and work under him. I was honored to work in that system with coach Piraino.JM: I really appreciated your time tonight, Michael. In closing, what can Boston College fans expect from Michael Walker going forward?MW: They can expect me to do the same thing at the next level. I’m gonna keep doing my thing. They can expect me to be a success story. I’m just excited for the future and what’s to come.

The team got back together for voluntary strength and conditioning on Monday as part of the offseason program’s “Phase I.”With select players available to the media in the afternoon, there was no shortage of news to help everyone through yet another day of the long, monotonous offseason. Here, we have some of the most noteworthy things to come out of the AdventHealth Training Center on Monday.Amid rumors about his future, Gerald McCoy is a no-show for the first day of workoutsand his excitement about playing under the new coaching staff. Interestingly enough, he also noted that he thinks he will be a better fit for this new defense under Todd Bowles.Mike Evans addresses idea of playing defensive backThe topic of Mike Evans playing both offense and defense is one of the odder stories of this offseason, and the fact that it has persisted this long is equal parts strange and intriguing. The whole thing started with the Pro Bowl, when Evans came in on defense and ended up intercepting a pass. The Bucs themselves brought it back up Monday as an April Fool’s joke, tweeting that Evans really would be playing two positions this season.Jokes aside, Evans addressed the idea on Monday, saying that if the team wanted him to play defensive back in a situational role, he’d do it. He mentioned that he’d need to get some practice in, but that he is confident he could be an effective corner. Now, this doesn’t seem like something that will actually happen any time soon. Could it? Sure. But Evans is one of the most valuable guys on the roster today, so overworking him or putting him at higher risk of injury wouldn’t be the best idea. There’s no doubt that it would be fun, though. Jersey numbers for new additions releasedThe Bucs released jersey numbers of their new signings on Monday, with a couple of newcomers picking numbers of departing players.Deone Bucannon will wear No. 23 http://www.buccaneerslockerroom.com/authentic-shaquil-barrett-jersey , which most recently belonged to Chris Conte. Shaquil Barrett will wear No. 58, which was Kwon Alexander’s number. Offseason workout dates announcedThe full schedule of offseason workouts was released for every NFL team Monday, so the Bucs now have their exact dates nailed down for the rest of the spring. They will run their voluntary minicamp from April 23-25. The last day of the camp will coincide with the first day of the 2019 NFL Draft. The team will have its OTAs from May 14-16, May 21-23 and May 28-31. Mandatory minicamp will be held June 4-6.Buccaneers record book watch: Week four The Buccaneers are 2-1 through three games, which makes this Sunday’s game in Chicago against the Bears a pivotal one. With a win, Tampa Bay heads into its bye week with a 3-1 record. A loss sends the team to 2-2, which would be pretty disappointing after a hot 2-0 start. When the Bucs take the field looking for a win on Sunday, there are some guys on the team that could find themselves inching closer to the top of the franchise’s record book. Let’s see where things stand heading into week four:Career Receiving YardsMike Evans’ 137 yards on Monday against the Steelers moved him up to second all-time in receiving yards, passing Kevin House. At 4,946, Evans needs 73 yards on Sunday to pass Mark Carrier (5,018) for the franchise record.Career Receiving TouchdownsWith his fourth-quarter score on Monday, Evans passed Jimmie Giles for most career touchdown receptions. He now owns the franchise record at 35 and will look to add to that on Sunday.Career ReceptionsEvans is still working his way toward the top spot as far as receptions go. He has 332 in his career, so he needs 99 more to earn the franchise record, which is currently held by James Wilder (430).Career Passing YardsJameis Winston is back from his suspension, but it’s unclear as to who will start at quarterback on Sunday in Chicago. If it’s Winston, he’ll have his first shot of the year at pushing his name up in the record book. He currently stands at fifth in passing yards with 11,636. He is 1,013 away from taking the fourth spot from Doug Williams (12,648).Career Passing TouchdownsWinston is also fifth in career passing touchdowns with 69. He needs two to pass Trent Dilfer (70) for fourth and five to take third from Doug Williams (73).Career CompletionsWinston is fifth in completions with 939. With 102 more O. J. Howard Jersey White , he passes Brad Johnson (1,040) for fourth all-time.Career Passing Attempts Winston is sixth in passing attempts with 1,544. He needs 140 more to pass Brad Johnson (1,683) for fifth.Career Rushing TouchdownsThings stand the same as they have all season in the rushing touchdowns category. With one more, Peyton Barber gets up to a tie for 20th, while two ties him for 16th. Jacquizz Rodgers needs one to tie for 25th, two to tie for 20th and three to tie for 16th. Winston is currently tied with James Owens (eight) for 14th in franchise history. One rushing score would give him sole possession of 14th, while three would allow him to pass Michael Pittman for 13th. Career TacklesWith eight tackles against the Steelers, Lavonte David is up to 567 in his career. He still needs 113 more to pass Hardy Nickerson (680) for third all-time.Kwon Alexander took sole possession of 15th all-time after picking up five on Monday. He now has 253 and with 14 more, he passes Donnie Abraham (266) for 14th.Gerald McCoy had one tackle against Pittsburgh to give him 205 in his career, which is good for sole possession of 24th. With two more, he gets by Simeon Rice (206) for 23rd.Career SacksMcCoy had 1鈦? sack against the Steelers. He is still third all-time with 50, needing 20 more to pass Simeon Rice (69 1/2) for second.Career SafetiesLavonte David remains tied for most career safeties with one. Career InterceptionsDavid has 10 career interceptions, which ties him for 17th in franchise history. One more pulls him into a tie for 15th, while two more ties him for 12th.Career Passes DefendedDavid and Brent Grimes are tied for fifth in passes defended with 35. Both are 18 away from passing Aqib Talib (52) for fourth.Career Fumble RecoveriesDavid is tied with Ronde Barber for most fumble recoveries in franchise history (12). He needs one more to own the record.Career Forced FumblesDavid has 17 forced fumbles in his career. Three more puts him at second in team history, passing Simeon Rice (19).Career Games PlayedSunday is set to be Gerald McCoy’s 113th game as a Buc, which would tie him for 20th all-time with James Wilder and Mark Cotney. Demar Dotson is about to play his 104th game with Tampa Bay, which ties him with Hardy Nickerson for 31st in franchise history.Sunday will be David’s 95th game, which ties him for 45th with Barrett Ruud.
49ers offense suffers big blow http://www.seahawkslockerroom.com/authentic-jarran-reed-jersey , as Jerick McKinnon is out for the season The San Francisco 49ers are a trendy pick to reach the playoffs as a wild card team, with many analysts favoring them to finish above the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West standings.Unfortunately for Kyle Shanahan’s group, the rebuilt offense received some unexpected and heavily damaging bad news. Running back Jerick McKinnon tore his ACL on the final play of practice on Saturday, and his season is over. McKinnon was signed to a four-year, $30 million deal this offseason, coming over from the Minnesota Vikings, whom the 49ers play in Minneapolis next Sunday, so Jerick will not play against his former team.San Francisco intended to make McKinnon the starter Mychal Kendricks Jersey Green , and he would’ve been an interesting player to watch in Shanahan’s offense, given his love for using running backs in the passing game matched McKinnon’s versatility. With McKinnon out, the 49ers will turn to Matt Breida, who himself has just been cleared to return to the field after a shoulder injury in the team’s preseason opener. Breida rushed for 465 yards on 105 carries in his rookie season, as well as 21 catches for 180 yards and 3 total touchdowns.Behind Breida on the depth chart is the veteran Alfred Morris, who racked up 547 yards on just 115 carries in Dallas last season, but dating back to his days in Washington, is a total non-entity in the passing game. Shanahan should know that Steve Largent Jersey , seeing as he coached him from 2012-2013.With Week 1 literally a week away, the 49ers offense will have to undergo some significant tweaks following the loss of one of its projected key contributors. Pete Carroll, 67, is the oldest coach in the NFL. Yet, he signed a contract extension Monday that will take him through the 2021 season.Carroll plans to coach another five years, at least, he said.鈥淚鈥檓 in great shape,鈥?Carroll said Nick Vannett Jersey , via Gregg Bell of . “I鈥檓 counting on a five-year plan. That doesn鈥檛 have any statement on my contract. But it鈥檚 just kind of the way somebody taught me to look forward, and it helps.鈥漈eam chairman Jody Allen, the sister of late Seahawks owner Paul Allen, began talking to Carroll about a two-year contract extension last week. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the extension is worth more than $11 million per year. The length of Carroll’s contract now matches that of General Manager John Schneider.鈥淪o grateful to Jody and the organization,鈥?Carroll said. 鈥淚 love this team and couldn鈥檛 be more proud to represent the 12s.鈥
Week 2 was another high scoring slate in the NFL and another week when daily fantasy sports contests were won by rostering the passing attack from just a handful of games.Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 300-plus yards and six touchdowns in a 42-27 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-c.-j.-beathard-jersey , including two scores to tight end Travis Kelce. Behind early and forced to play catch-up, Ben Roethlisberger aired it out 60 times, leading to a 450-yard performance to go along with three passing and one rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster and TE Jesse James both cracked the 100-yard threshold and found the end zone.In total there were more than 180 fantasy points scored in the Chiefs-Steelers game. Meanwhile at Lambeau Field, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins connected with WRs Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen for 90 combined fantasy points.Game stacks have been pivotal to winning daily tournaments this year. The Bucs-Saints shootout in Week 1 and the Chiefs-Steelers shootout for Week 2 both led to millions in prizes. Here are game stacks to target for Week 3:New Orleans at Atlanta (Over-under: 53, Falcons favored by 3 points)The Falcons-Saints game has the second-highest Vegas total this week. Matt Ryan and the Falcons host Drew Brees and company in a game that could make a perfect game stack opportunity with the duo of Ryan and Julio Jones plus New Orleans running back Alvin Kamara. Jones has been targeted 28 times to start the season for nearly 500 air yards, a metric that balances target volume with the depth of those targets. Jones has a 40 percent market share of the Falcons passing attack. On the flip side, Alvin Kamara gets to face a Falcons defense that funnels targets to opposing running backs and gave up 14 catches for 100-plus yards to Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey last weekend. Kamara has 18 targets through the first two weeks and is in a prime spot to make a fantasy splash if the game in Atlanta turns into a shootout. Fantasy owners who are building multiple lineups could also consider mixing in Saints WR Michael Thomas and Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu to their stacks.San Francisco at Kansas City (Over-under: 56, Chiefs favored by 6 1/2 points)While a lot of the attention will be on Patrick Mahomes this week because of his 10 TDs through two games Womens Kentavius Street Jersey , winning daily fantasy tournaments requires separation from the crowd.Jimmy Garoppolo is in a bounce-back spot against a Chiefs defense that has allowed more than 1,000 yards per game of total offense and given up more than 400 yards passing in back-to-back games. While the Chiefs defense should benefit from a home game at Arrowhead, Garoppolo is still in great position to throw for 300 yards and multiple touchdowns and will look to connect with his favorite target as Marquise Goodwin hopefully returns to the 49ers lineup. Garoppolo-Goodwin stacks can also be mixed with 49ers tight end George Kittle 鈥?who could be lower owned after disappointing players as a popular pick last week. He will return value for fantasy owners if he can even replicate half of Jesse James’ stat line from last week. Chiefs players Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Sammy Watkins are all candidates to “bring it back” and should be inserted into your lineups to make a full-on game stack.___This column was provided to The Associated Press by DailyRoto, http://dailyroto.com The warning signs were there, from the moment Reuben Foster became one of the very rare draft prospects to be sent home from the Scouting Combine. Concerns about his temperament and a dilute urine sample (which counted as a positive drug test) caused plenty of teams to steer clear of the former Alabama linebacker. But not the 49ers. After landing him at the bottom of round one, the 49ers boasted that they would have taken Foster with the third overall pick in the draft, if the Bears had selected Solomon Thomas in the wake of a San Fran/Chicago flip-flop of the second and third overall picks.Foster retained a high level of esteem among the 2017 draft prospects even after the 49ers explored all of the various red flags and rabbit holes of Foster’s character.“I鈥檓 proud of that Jimmy Garoppolo Jersey ,鈥?G.M. John Lynch said last year regarding the vetting of Foster. 鈥淲e were exhaustive in our getting to know the kid. We met with him at the Combine. We had him out here for a visit. Kyle [Shanahan] and I both spent a lot of time on the phone with him, facetiming. And then, I think when we really started to zero in and get really serious, we sent [vice president of football affairs] Keena Turner and Pastor Earl [Smith] down to Tuscaloosa to meet with Reuben for two days and they had a tremendous visit.”So now the 49ers, who made an unconventional decision to pluck Lynch from the broadcast booth despite no scouting experience, need to make some tough internal assessments regarding how they got it so wrong with Foster. Because they clearly did, getting only 16 games out of a player they’d hoped would become a cornerstone of the team’s defense for years to come.
The 2019 NFL draft features some big-name defensive prospects from powerhouse programs who will litter the first round Marcus Mariota Jersey , but there’s a small school safety prospect that’s likely to creep into that conversation.Delaware’s Nasir Adderley is a rangy prospect that’s likely to impressive general managers and scouts alike at next month’s Senior Bowl. With a rare combination of size and athleticism, Adderley should turn plenty of heads at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine as well.Adderley recently spoke exclusively with MCM about his favorite part about playing free safety, his abilities as a return man and what he hopes to accomplish in Mobile. JM: Congratulations on the Senior Bowl invite.NA: Oh man, thank you so much. I was really hoping I would get that invite. It’s a dream come true.JM: What were you doing when you got the news, and what was your initial reaction like?NA: The way I found out was incredible. I was out on the field with my mom, my grandmother and my sister on Senior Day. We took a picture with my head coach and he told my mom that we needed to stop by his office after because he had something for me. I had no idea what it was. We lost that game unfortunately. My mom gathered around the entire family and told them I had been invited to the Senior Bowl. It was incredible. The feeling was so crazy.JM: What’s the lasting impression you hope to leave on the scouts and general managers in attendance in Mobile?NA: I want them to see that I’m a competitor and a play maker. I’m gonna work hard regardless of who’s in front of me. I’m always trying to find a way to win.JM: What’s your favorite part about playing the free safety position?NA: I just love everything about it. It allows me to be physical in the run game. I can patrol the middle of the field. I just love having all that green in front of me. It allows me to really see the game and dissect whatever the quarterback is doing. You see everything from thefree safety position. I recognize the formations. That’s how I play and how I learn. I’m a visual learner. When I see a formation, and my teammate needs help, I can see it due to my instincts. Seeing the whole picture from back there is amazing at safety as opposed to cornerback or any other position on the field. You’re the last line of defense. I played cornerback my freshmen and sophomore year but I made the transition to free safety. That’s where I’m projected to play at the next level. I just love playing safety, man.JM: Did having that background as a cornerback help you make the transition to free safety? Does it give you any sort of advantage?NA: It definitely helped. Playing corner, you have to have good feet. I feel like a lot of safeties don’t have that component to their game. I feel like that’s a big help for me. I have great feet because I played corner for so long.JM: How did Delaware prepare you for the next level?NA: We have a great, committed coaching staff. They have a ton of experience. I feel like I had the best of both worlds at Delaware. My first two years as a cornerback, my position coach Henry Baker who coaches at North Carolina now, he was just a pure technician. I learned so much from him from the technique aspect of the game. We had a change in the coaching staff in the middle of my sophomore year. The defensive coordinator was also the the defensive backs coach. I’m talking about Chris Cosh. He understands the mental side of the game so well. It’s been incredible to learn about formations from him. He’s helped me be able to identify what the offense wants to do when they’re in a certain look. I now have a better understanding of the defense as a whole. I understand what the defensive line is doing. I understand the responsibilities of the linebackers. It just helped me grow my game so much.JM: Who would you say is the best player you’ve ever played against?NA: I was really impressed with Kyle Lauletta. He played at the University of Richmond. He’s with the New York Giants now. He made some incredible throws against us. I was really impressed every time I watched him. He didn’t really make any mistakes. He diagnosed our defense with success. He had a good understanding of what we were trying to do. You have to try and disguise what you’re doing against him. If he knows what’s coming, he’s gonna expose you.JM: Is there an NFL quarterback you’re looking forward to picking off one day?NA: Every single one of them (laughs). Whoever is on that field, I’m trying to get an interception. It doesn’t matter who the quarterback is.JM: You don’t just play free safety. You’ve been a dynamic return guy as well. What’s going through your mind when that ball’s in the air?NA: That’s just something that I’ve always done, ever since pop warner and high school. I love it. It’s so much fun to have the ball in my hands. I’m trying to make something happen for my team.JM: What are some of your hobbies outside of football?NA: I’m really passionate about football. I devote a whole bunch of my time to football. I’m just trying to get better on a daily basis. I like to read in my free time. I read self improvement books. I’m always looking to improve myself as a man in general Jurrell Casey Jersey , not just on the field. I read things about being a better person. I like spending quality time with my family.JM: What’s your favorite self improvement book?NA: Probably The Motivational Manifesto by Brendon Burchard. I listen to Eric Thomas a lot. He’s a motivational speaker. I just love his story. He’s so passionate about what he does. I truly believe in some of the morals he instills. The Motivational Manifesto was a book that he recommended in one of his spoken words.JM: That’s incredible. I’ve really appreciated your time tonight, Nasir. You’ve made for a great conversation and teams are going to love you when they get a chance to sit down and really talk to you. What can fans expect from Nasir Adderley going forward?NA: They can expect me to be the competitor and play maker that I’ve always been. Wherever they put me, I’m gonna make plays. I’m a versatile defender so it doesn’t matter where I play, I’m just gonna go out there and make plays. The Titans have to hire Art Smith, right? The guy is an absolute legend, and if they hired him as OC, he’d get more than just one photo in the editor. Turron Davenport completely overlooked the future HOF play-caller in this piece where he mentions some familiar names and some not so familiar names associated with the vacant OC job. The Titans had 4 draft picks in 2018 and got 3 studs. Two will be fixtures in the defense for a long time to come and the other will be at minimum the best special team player on this team for a long time. All three need to improve in 2019, but we saw a lot of good in 2018. Antonio Brown is not likely to be a Steeler when the 2019 season kicks off, and I can’t think of a better team for him to be on than the Titans. NFL.com really tries to make a case where Nick Foles should be the full time starter over Carson Wentz. That’s a bit much for me. Foles is an EXCELLENT backup, possibly the best, but I’m sticking with Wentz if I’m the Eagles. Let the Titans sign Foles to backup Mariota.
The Buccaneers signed kicker Chandler Catanzaro to a three-year contract this offseason Ryan Jensen Jersey , but he reportedly won’t make it through the first year of the pact.Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports that the Bucs have released Catanzaro. The move comes a day after Catanzaro missed a pair of field goals in Tampa’s 16-3 loss to Washington. The Buccaneers piled up 501 yards over the course of the afternoon and the missed kicks joined four turnovers as the primary reasons why they didn’t put up more points.Catanzaro had a rough start to his first preseason with the Bucs this summer and was 11-of-15 on field goals and 23-of-27 on extra points overall this season. Those are lowest percentages of successful kicks in his five-year NFL career.Signing Catanzaro was supposed to put an end to the Buccaneers’ annual kicking woes, but they’ll need to find someone else to put them to rest. It’s obviously still early in the offseason for the Buccaneers. The Super Bowl hasn’t even happened yet. But that hasn’t stopped the Tampa Bay fan base from shifting focus to the 2019 season. Since the Bucs have already made a coaching change, that focus is particularly set on free agency, the NFL Draft and the overall setup of the roster for the new season. One topic that has been discussed is the future of the Tampa Bay backfield. Peyton Barber is a restricted free agent, but will more than likely be back in red and pewter when training camp rolls around. Behind him, the Bucs presumably have Ronald Jones II in place to be the No. 2 guy, potentially in a spot where he could split carries with Barber. Despite that, there has been some talk from the fan base about making a splash at the running back position. However Noah Spence Jersey , making a big move might not be the best course of action for general manager Jason Licht and his staff.A lot of people have mentioned Licht’s ability to admit his mistakes and cut his losses. That’s one of the supporting reasons behind potentially bringing in a big name, which would signal that the team is moving on from Jones after just one season. The free agency class for running backs is pretty deep this year, as is the draft class. There are a lot of names that will eventually be marked as fits for the Bucs. Le’Veon Bell’s name has already been thrown around in connection with Tampa Bay. But it’s just too soon to give up on Jones completely. Why can’t the Bucs just cut their losses and send Jones packing? Well, to begin with, they haven’t seen nearly enough of him to truly know that he can’t make an impact. There’s a reason the USC product was selected in the second round of last year’s draft. He had a fantastic college career and had displayed the kind of speed and explosiveness that would make him a potential force for Tampa Bay. A rough preseason got him off to a slow start as a rookie that he never recovered from. But did he ever really get a chance to recover from the start? He only got 23 carries on the season, rushing for 44 yards and a touchdown. In the passing game, he was targeted just nine times. The sample size is extremely small for Jones. Not only that, but his offensive line didn’t exactly do him any favors on the carries that he did get.As Cheah says Chandler Catanzaro Jersey , that stat is very telling of the situation Jones was in. And never mind the date on that tweet because even though there were four games after that, Jones didn’t get another carry. Again, he just simply wasn’t used enough, even down the stretch of a season that was very clearly lost. Sure, maybe Jones wasn’t far enough along early in the season to be getting consistent carries and a high volume of snaps. But as the season progressed, he should have at least been getting some meaningful reps.Averaging 1.9 yards per carry is a bad look, but consider the variables around that number. Getting just 23 carries in a season and playing behind a struggling offensive line isn’t exactly a recipe for production. Jones was never given the chance to get into the flow of things. He didn’t impress in the snaps he did get, but can the Bucs really say that he was put in a position to succeed? No John Lynch Jersey , they can’t. That’s why rushing to push him out of town doesn’t make sense. Now, none of this is to say Tampa Bay shouldn’t add a running back at all during this offseason. The team still needs depth. Picking up a third-down guy or a good pass-catching complement would be just fine. There are a number of options in free agency, plus some intriguing possibilities to be had in the middle rounds of the draft. Bringing someone in to push Jones for the No. 2 spot is a great idea. Where the team could go wrong is if it brings in someone that will automatically assume the starting role and push Jones down the depth chart without him having a chance to prove his worth.Where do you sit in terms of the running back situation? Are you ready to say goodbye to Jones after one year, or do you give him a shot in 2019? It’s your turn to sound off.
No player invited to attend the draft by the NFL had a longer wait in the green room than wide receiver D.K. Metcalf.Metcalf went to the Seahawks with the final pick of the second round on Friday and viewers of the draft were treated to video of his weepy phone call with Seahawks coach Pete Carroll after the selection.Metcalf’s profile expanded exponentially during the pre-draft process when pictures of him working out without a shirt went viral were followed up by a fast 40-yard dash. While those pictures made waves http://www.seahawkslockerroom.com/authentic-quinton-jefferson-jersey , his inability to stay healthy or run more than a limited route tree at Ole Miss wound up looming large in the draft. That colored Metcalf’s comments to the media after he was picked.“My life has changed by people noticing what I’ve been able to do with my body … It’s time for me to show what I can do as a football player,” Metcalf said, via Gregg Bell of the .Friday night also brought word that Doug Baldwin may not play again due to a number of injuries. If that’s the case, Metcalf won’t lack for chances to show what he can do on the football field. Seattle received Kansas City’s 2019 first-round pick, picked up a 2020 second-rounder, and swapped 2019 third-round picks. The Seahawks have skyrocketed from a franchise-low four draft selections entering Thursday to a whopping five. However, they now join the Green Bay Packers, New York Giants http://www.seahawkslockerroom.com/authentic-brett-hundley-jersey , and Oakland Raiders on the list of teams with multiple first-rounders. This is the first time since 2010 that the Seahawks have held two first-round draft slots, and John Schneider used those picks on Russell Okung (#6) and Earl Thomas (#14). The NFL has just about wrapped up Week 7 action Alfred Morris Jersey , with the Atlanta Falcons hosting the New York Giants on Monday Night Football to close it out. That game has fairly significant draft pick implications. The Giants sit at 1-5, tied with the 1-5 Oakland Raiders and a half game back of the 1-6 San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals. The Falcons are 2-4, and scuffling along, but can remain in the wild card chase for the time being with a win. We’re back once again with a look at NFL standings from a couple different perspectives. We’ll be breaking down the draft order, since the 49ers are firmly in the mix for the top pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. We will also break down the playoff picture since most of us will pay at least passing interest in the playoffs come January.2019 NFL Draft orderThis week saw a one-win team get a victory, as the Indianapolis Colts had little trouble with the two-win Buffalo Bills. Who knew Derek Anderson was not really the best answer with Josh Allen hurt.Meanwhile, both the 49ers and Cardinals lost this week to drop to 1-6. The 49ers have the edge in strength of schedule, with the lower SOS getting the tiebreaker. If the Giants lose to the Falcons on Monday, they will take over the No. 1 overall pick.Speaking of the 49ers and Cardinals, they square off in Week 8 in Glendale, Arizona. The loser could still finish behind the winner in draft order, but it’s a big mid-season draft matchup. It is joined by the Raiders hosting the Colts in another important draft order matchup.1. San Francisco 49ers (1-6 — .529)2. Arizona Cardinals (1-6 — .548)3. New York Giants (1-5 — .476)4. Oakland Raiders (1-5 — .545)5. Indianapolis Colts (2-5 — .459)6. Buffalo Bills (2-5 — .541)2019 NFL playoffsThe very best of each conference is slowly settling into place, and then it’s matter of figuring out the clump of teams behind them. In the AFC, the 6-1 Chiefs got a big win over Cincinnati and the 5-2 Patriots edged out Chicago on the road. The Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans are each a game back of the Patriots, but it’s clear Kansas City and New England are the two best teams in the conference. In the NFC, the Rams thumped the 49ers to remain undefeated at 7-0, and it’s basically LA and then everybody else. The next group of teams includes the Saints, who won in Baltimore to improve to 5-1 Mike Person Jersey , the Vikings, who beat the Jets on the road to improve to 4-2-1, and then the Panthers, who improved to 4-2 with a win in Philadelphia. Washington beat Dallas to improve to 4-2 and take a 1.5 game lead in the NFC East. The NFC has two big matchups in Week 8. The Rams host the Packers, while the Vikings host the Saints. All four will remain int he playoff chase regardless of the outcome, but this could give LA and New Orleans a chance to firm up their position atop the NFC.NFC playoff picture1. New England Patriots (5-2)3. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1)4. Houston Texans (4-3)5. Los Angeles Chargers (5-2)6. Cincinnati Bengals (4-3) As two of the best players at their position in their generation, San Francisco cornerback Richard Sherman and Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers have formed a relationship built on deep respect. They have nothing but praise for each other’s games and will exchange texts after one of them does something special. With all that they have accomplished that can happen often.“Just checking if he has a great game or I see something on tape where he’s in his bag and doing something crazy like some of the Hail Mary’s that he’s thrown,” Sherman said. “I text him like, ‘Man, that’s crazy. I don’t know what you were thinking right there.’ He’s a good dude.”Sherman hopes Rodgers doesn’t pull off any of those crazy plays he’s known for on Monday night when the 49ers (1-4) visit the Packers (2-2-1) in the seventh meeting between the two megastars, including one in the postseason. The two split the previous six meetings when Sherman was in Seattle, although the Seahawks won the most important in the NFC title game in January 2015. But any success Rodgers had didn’t come because he found some weakness in Sherman’s game. Instead, he approached it like most quarterbacks do, throwing as few passes to his right as possible, knowing Sherman will shut down that side of the field.Rodgers has completed only nine passes for 90 yards against Sherman in those six games, according to SportRadar, targeting him just 13 times and throwing one interception. Almost half of that production came in the first meeting in 2012 when Rodgers went 4-for-5 for 44 yards. He has avoided him almost completely since then as Sherman has allowed just five catches for 46 yards in the past five games.“When he’s on the field, you have to be smart throwing the ball his way Tom Rathman Jersey ,” Rodgers said. “That’s just the type of player he is. I mean, he’s a super-intelligent guy, he’s got incredible football instincts and he can still impact the game in a number of different ways.”Sherman is still striking fear in quarterbacks at age 30 despite coming off major surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon and nursing a calf injury that sidelined him for one game this season.Sherman has been targeted just 10 times on 145 pass plays this season, the second-lowest rate in the NFL. Opposing quarterbacks have completed just two of those passes for 28 yards as Sherman has been a rare bright spot for a struggling San Francisco team.“People aren’t targeting him. That always tells you a lot there about Richard,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. “Especially where he is in his career, he diagnosis routes extremely well. I’ve always felt he was so strong at the breaking points of routes and really does a great job of playing toward his length. He’s an excellent player, always has been. I think he looks good.”Rodgers has also been slowed by an injury at age 34, as he hurt his knee in the first half of the opener against Chicago before returning to lead a memorable comeback. He has shown more mobility each week and is coming off a 442-yard, three TD performance in a loss at Detroit last week. Rodgers has 10 touchdown passes and just one interception all season and has the highest passer rating (103.5) of any quarterback with at least 1,000 attempts.“He’s still the best or is tied for the best on the planet,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said. “He always has been. He’s the man. I know he’s not 100 percent, everyone knows that, but he seems to be a little bit better each week. He’s still the best. Good player.”One aspect that makes Rodgers even tougher to defend than other top quarterbacks such as Tom Brady or Peyton Manning during his heyday is the ability to scramble. Rodgers is an elite athlete and can extend plays with his feet and then expose defenses downfield with his laser-like arm when the cornerbacks can’t stick with the receivers for that extra time.Sherman knows that’s one of the hardest things to prepare for against Rodgers and the Packers.“You’re going to have to run, you’re going to have to cover for a long period of time,” he said. “You’ll have to be ready for the backyard football. He’s a great passer, he can throw the ball anywhere. He can be on his back foot and throw the ball 75 yards.”
Like all of the major sports leagues around the world Josh Oliver Jersey , the NFL has options for players that cannot make it and still want to play professionally in other leagues. The NFL had the USFL back in the mid 1980's in which Hall of Fame players like Steve Young, Jim Kelly, and Reggie White participated in. In the NBA, there is the D-League, G-League, and the opportunity to play overseas as well. In the MLB, there are many leagues like the Japanese baseball league as well as other leagues in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. For the NFL, the big league right now to go to if you cannot cut it is the CFL. There are a lot of NFL players that couldn't make it that are trying to revitalize their careers with the help of the CFL.The CFL will be in its 60th season of existence. There is a lot of benefit that can go toward playing in the CFL. Look at a guy like Johnny Manziel, trying to revitalize his career in the NFL and is strongly considering playing in the CFL after the Spring Development league is complete. Manziel is not the only one to have taken this step Deandre Baker Jersey , however. With these castoffs though, it seems like their time to go back to the NFL may be running out of time. Without further adieu, let's take a look at 15 NFL castoffs that are still playing in the CFL. Chris Sale wasn’t about to slow down the way he was pitching.
Sale struck out 13 over seven dazzling innings, Mitch Moreland hit a two-run homer and the Boston Red Sox won the weekend and season series over the Seattle Mariners with a 5-0 victory on Sunday afternoon.
”You try to find a good rhythm and tempo, find a groove and keep it going,” the 6-foot-6 lefty said after posting his first scoreless outing since going six shutout innings in his first start of the season.
He even had a solution when the Mariners’ hitters started stepping out of the batter’s box attempting to disrupt his rhythm.
”Keep throwing strikes,” he said. ”Try to not let what’s going on outside the zone affect you.”
Sale (7-4) gave up four hits, walked one and ended his day by striking out Mike Zunino swinging on a 100-mph fastball. Joe Kelly and Matt Barnes each pitched an inning to complete the four-hit shutout that only took 2 hours, 29 minutes.
He struck out 10 of the first 16 batters he faced, including the side in order in the fifth – the last two swinging on 99 mph fastballs.
”I’m glad that he’s on my team and I don’t have to face him,” Moreland said. ”He’s filthy and showed it again today.”
Jackie Bradley Jr. had three singles and Rafael Devers added an RBI double for Boston, which struggled offensively in a loss Saturday after putting up 14 runs and 20 hits in the series opener.
The Mariners have lost six of seven games and fell to 1-5 on their 10-game East Coast trip.
”Chris Sale was on top of his game, no doubt, and he had really good stuff today,” Seattle manager Scott Servais said. ”When he’s got the off-speed pitches and the slider was really a dominant pitch for him today, like it often is.”
Marco Gonzales (7-5) gave up five runs on seven hits in six innings, striking out six without a walk. He was locked in a scoreless duel with Boston’s ace in the fifth.
”He’s a great pitcher Julian Love Jersey ,” Gonzales said. ”I knew that I needed some good stuff today and I knew I needed to give our team the best chance to win and keep it a close game.”
The Red Sox broke ahead 3-0 in the fifth on the double by Devers, and sacrifice flies by Sandy Leon and Mookie Betts after Xander Bogaerts doubled leading off and Eduardo Nunez singled.
Moreland’s homer into the center-field batter’s eye made it 5-0 an inning later.
Gonzales was sharp early, spotting a fastball that broke into the low 90s along with a changeup, curveball and cutter. He had the hitters off-balance, causing a lot of weak or early swings until they began waiting on pitches. He had all six Ks through the first four innings.
Nelson Cruz had a two-out triple in the fourth, but was stranded when Ryon Healy struck out on a slider in the dirt.
TRAINER’S ROOM
Mariners: SS Jean Segura missed his fourth straight game with a right forearm infection.
Red Sox: RF Mookie Betts (sickness) and SS Bogaerts (strained left index finger) both returned to the lineup after missing Saturday’s game. ”Good to have them both back in the lineup,” manager Alex Cora said after his club was held to three singles in the first eight innings Saturday. . Cora also said that LHP Drew Pomeranz (10-day DL, left biceps tendinitis) will ramp up this week if things go well in his next bullpen session.
GOOD GLOVE
Betts made a semi-leaping grab on Mitch Haniger’s fly ball to end the sixth with his back nearly up against the bullpen wall.
Boston won the season series, 4-3, which could come into play for homefield if the teams tied for the AL’s Wild Card spot.
UP NEXT
Mariners: RHP Felix Hernandez (6-6, 5.14 ERA) faces Orioles RHP Andrew Cashner (2-8, 4.72) on Monday when Seattle opens the final stop of its trip with the first of a four games in Baltimore.
Red Sox: After and a day off Monday, LHP David Price (8-5, 3.81) goes for Boston against LHP John Lamb (0-0, 5.40) when the Angles come to Fenway Park for a three-game series beginning Tuesday.
Jalen Hurd began his college career at Tennessee Steve Young Jersey White , where he played running back so well that he was ahead of Alvin Kamara on the depth chart, and finished sixth in school history in rushing yards despite leaving before his NCAA eligibility expired. He then transferred to Baylor and played wide receiver, playing so well that he was named Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year. And it says something about Hurd that despite all that success at running back and wide receiver, he might end up playing tight end in the NFL.The 49ers selected Hurd in the third round of the draft, and head coach Kyle Shanahan said he’s never before drafted a player he could see playing running back, wide receiver or tight end in the NFL.“He can do about everything,” Shanahan said. “I think if he would have stayed a running back Joe Staley Jersey , I think he would have gotten drafted as an NFL running back. Today he got drafted as an NFL receiver, kind of. I believe if he tried to play tight end he would have gotten drafted as an NFL tight end. That’s a pretty unique thing to have. I don’t remember being able to say that about any player I’ve studied before. So, it’s neat to be able to do that and he can help us out in a lot of different ways.”San Francisco General Manager John Lynch said Hurd played at over 250 pounds when Tennessee was asking him to run a lot in short-yardage situations, then got himself under 230 pounds when Baylor was asking him to run deep routes as a wide receiver. Hurd weighed 226 at the Scouting Combine, but Lynch said the 49ers will let Hurd get to the weight where he feels like he’s in his best physical condition, and then decide exactly how he’ll be used. The 49ers are excited about the possibilities. Pierre Garçon’s time with the 49ers will come to an end on March 13.A report in February indicated that the 49ers would decline their option on the veteran wideout’s contract for the 2019 season. The 49ers confirmed it on Thursday.Garçon signed a five-year, $47.5 million deal with the Niners in 2017 Patrick Willis Jersey , but injuries have limited him to 16 games over his two seasons with the team. He’s had 64 catches for 786 yards and a touchdown when he has been able to get on the field and it’s not hard to see why the 49ers opted not to pay $6 million to see if Garçon could do better in 2019.The 49ers announced several other moves along with the Garçon decision. They have picked up the options on fullback Kyle Juszczyk, defensive lineman Cassius Marsh, linebacker Dekoda Watson and cornerback K’Waun Williams for the 2019 season. Juszczyk made his third Pro Bowl team last season and all were regulars in the lineup when healthy. Finally, the 49ers have tendered running back Raheem Mostert as a restricted free agent and tendered exclusive rights free agents linebacker Elijah Lee and defensive end Greg Mabin. Mostert ran 34 times for 261 yards and a touchdown before landing on injured reserve in early November.
The Seattle Seahawks season is over Womens Justin Coleman Jersey , and John Schneider is off to Mobile to scout at the Senior Bowl, but a handful of Hawks have made the trip to Orlando to take part in the Pro Bowl. But of course, the most important thing going on in Orlando is the skills competition, where Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck are set to face off in a skills competition to finally determine who is the best quarterback to come out of the 2012 NFL Draft. Nine time Pro Bowler, four time First Team All Pro DeMarcus Ware posted the following clip of Wilson warming up for the skills competition, so hopefully Wilson is on his game and represents the Hawks well. Also visible in that clip are running back James Conner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith of the Arizona Cardinals and Eric Ebron of the Indianapolis Colts. Wilson is not the only Seattle player who will be taking part in the Skills Challenge, as linebacker Bobby Wagner is also a member of the NFC squad for the showdown when it takes place Wednesday. However, in spite of taking place Wednesday, it will not be broadcast until Thursday at 9 PM Eastern Time on ESPN. Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy says he isn’t sure how much longer he’ll be with the Bucs Ryan Jensen Jersey White , but he is sure he’s playing this year.“I will be playing football somewhere,” McCoy told Mike Cairns. The Buccaneers haven’t committed to keeping McCoy this year, and there’s been talk that they might trade him, release him or pressure him to take less than the $13 million base salary his contract calls for this season. McCoy said he doesn’t know if he’ll be in Tampa Bay when the season starts.“I don’t know. We’ll see,” McCoy said. “Fans know I love them. I’ll be on the field at some point.”McCoy has been skipping voluntary workouts, but if he wants to force the team’s hand, the smart play might be to show up and work out. If McCoy were to get injured during a voluntary workout at the team facility, the Bucs would be on the hook for his salary, so if McCoy were to join team activities, it might give the Bucs a sense of urgency to decide either to get rid of him or commit to him for this season.Adding to the uncertainty around McCoy is the recent neck injury that defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul suffered in a car accident. The Bucs may be less eager to move on from a veteran defensive tackle if their top veteran defensive end is going to miss significant time. The Bucs also could change their calculation about whether they can afford McCoy’s salary if they plan to put Pierre-Paul on the non-football injury list, and not pay him until he’s healthy enough to play.McCoy doesn’t seem particularly worried about all that. He’s just sure he will play, somewhere, when the season starts. TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are counting on Devin White to help them become relevant again. The powerful and speedy LSU linebacker was the fifth pick in the NFL draft on Thursday night, joining a porous defense making the transition to a 3-4 scheme after allowing the second-most points in the NFL last season.Coach Bruce Arians and general manager Jason Licht selected the 6-foot, 237-pound White over edge pass rusher Josh Allen and tackle Ed Oliver and plan use him, along with veteran Lavonte David, at inside linebacker in the system being installed by defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.“Coach Todd told me getting you will be like getting a new shiny, pretty car and I’m going to use you and I’m going to drive you to the fullest,” White said. “I’m ready for it. I’ve been put in this situation for a reason. I’m ready to show everybody that I’m the guy for the middle of that defense.”The Bucs are coming off a 5-11 finish that cost former coach Dirk Koetter his job and haven’t made the playoffs since 2007— the second-longest drought in the league.White was the first linebacker selected Thursday night and the first Tampa Bay has taken in the first round since Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks was the 28th pick in 1995.Improving the pass rush is a priority, which would have been one reason to opt for Allen, who had 17 sacks at Kentucky last season.Licht said White, who converted to linebacker after being recruited to LSU as a running back, is an ideal fit for the Bucs, who lost another former LSU linebacker, Kwon Alexander http://www.buccaneerslockerroom.com/authentic-demar-dotson-jersey , to the San Francisco 49ers in free agency this offseason.“We talked about these guys over and over. We watched every play they’ve ever played in college. and we felt very comfortable that we made the right decision,” Licht said. “Devin’s a linebacker, but he’s also an attacking player, he’s a pressure-type linebacker. He can get to the quarterback as well.”The GM also raved about White’s leadership qualities and versatility.“You have linebackers that cover and don’t play the run that great. You have guys who can play the run who can’t cover that great,” Licht said. “He can do both exceptionally well, in addition to blitzing, which is an art itself.”Licht is also banking on White having an immediate impact on a unit that finished 24th in total defense and allowed 29 points per game last season. At best, Tampa Bay’s success in the draft has been spotty under Licht, who’s in his sixth year with the team.Mike Evans (first-round, No. 6 overall in 2014) has developed into one of the NFL’s top receivers, Jameis Winston (No. 1 overall, 2015) still has a chance to prove he’s the team’s long-term solution at quarterback and tight end O.J. Howard (20th, 2017) is coming off a productive — albeit injured-shortened — first two seasons in an offense that ranked among the league’s best in 2018.But the defense has continued to struggle under Licht’s watch, with Vernon Hargreaves III (cornerback, 11th overall 2016), Noah Spence (edge rusher, second round 2016) and M.J. Stewart and Carlton Davis (cornerbacks, second round 2018) among the young players who’ve yet to contribute significantly. And that’s not to mention, Roberto Aguayo, the kicker the Bucs traded up to select in the second round three years ago. He was a major disappointment as a rookie and was released after just one season. The selection of White comes a year after Tampa Bay invested heavily in free agency to revamp the defensive line, bolstered the pass rush by trading for Jason Pierre-Paul and drafted defensive tackle Vita Vea in the first round, No. 12 overall.Arians and Licht still faces a decision on the future of six-time Pro Bowl tackle Gerald McCoy, who’s due to earn $13 million in 2019.The 10th-year pro did not participate in this week’s voluntary mini-camp and unless he’s traded, released or agrees to a significant pay cut, his hefty salary will make it difficult to free enough money to sign the club’s draft picks.
Titans coach Mike Vrabel has been at the Scouting Combine as a player Amani Hooker Jersey , an assistant coach and now as a head coach, but his view of it is the same.Vrabel told that he’s always believed the Combine is a small part of the overall evaluation of a player, and that the overwhelming majority of an evaluation should be based on his game film.“I can empathize with those players and what they go through, the nitpicking that goes on. Ultimately the r茅sum茅 is the film,” Vrabel said. “Can the guy go out there and play?”The Combine is useful — all 32 NFL teams wouldn’t send their coaches and personnel people to Indianapolis if it weren’t — but it’s nowhere near as useful a tool in evaluating future professional players as seeing what kind of college football players they were. What Family Feud survey questions and answers would involve the Tennessee Titans? I like to think everyone’s favorite game show is Family Feud, and if it’s not, it’s definitely up there. Hosted by Steve Harvey, the show involves two families competing head to head trying to give the most popular answers to survey questions for money and other prizes. When I was on vacation in July Amani Hooker Tennessee Titans Jersey , I watched several episodes of Family Feud, and it’s indeed entertaining. Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts| Spotify | Stitcher Last week, we noted that Kerryon Johnson finished third in Rookie of the Year among our FanPulse voters across the SB Nation platforms. But it’s not just fans that are noticing the year the Detroit Lions running back is having. ESPN handed out midseason NFL awards this week, and while Johnson didn’t finish first in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting, he was among the finalists—finishing fourth overall. He only received two votes from the eight-analyst panel at ESPN Sam Martin Jersey , but one of those writers, Football Outsiders’ Aaron Schatz, gave him a first-place vote. It would make sense for Schatz to back Kerryon, because his statistics support that choice. Football Outsiders’ DVOA metric ranks Johnson as the third most valuable running back in the NFL—behind just Phillip Lindsay and Todd Gurley. Johnson current ranks third in rushing yards (503) among rookies but first in yards per carry (5.7). Wide receiver Andy Jones didn’t spend all that long off the team. After getting waived from the Lions following their game against the Vikings (in which he played two offensive snaps), Jone is back on the team’s practice squad. He replaces tight end Hakeem Valles, who was waived by the team Wednesday for the second time this year. For whatever reason Calvin Johnson Jersey , opposing teams aren’t blitzing the Lions very often this season: Matt Patricia was mentioned on CBS Sports’ Hot Seat Power Rankings this week because of what was a pretty awful week from Monday to Sunday. However, they conclude that “this doesn’t feel like a one-and-done type of situation.” Here are your game sound and radio calls from the Lions-Vikings game: After firing special teams coordinator Joe Marciano, Matt Patricia said that assistant special teams coach Devin Fitzsimmons would be taking many of the duties, but it would be a team effort to fully replace him. The Packers have a blazing-fast corner to add to the secondary in round six."The Green Bay Packers’ second pick of the third day of the 2019 NFL Draft is in. After picking up a versatile defensive lineman in round five Aaron Rodgers Jersey , the Packers went with XX with pick 185 in round six. With that pick, they have made cornerback Ka’Dar Hollman from Toledo the newest member of the Packers. Hollman had a pre-draft visit with the Packers, making him the second such player in this year’s draft class along with third-round pick Jace Sternberger.Hollman brings exceptional speed to the Packers’ cornerback group, running an estimated 4.36-second 40 at Toledo’s Pro Day. At 6 feet and 196 pounds, he has good size as well, and he bench pressed 225 pounds 18 times. Hollman is also an explosive athlete, with a 38.5-inch vertical.Check out Hollman’s speed in this clip from the 2016 season Clay Matthews Jersey , when he chased down a receiver from all the way across the field:Although Hollman had just two interceptions in three years as a starter, he was productive in breaking up passes, averaging nine breakups per year. He walked on at Toledo as well, and now he is a sixth-round draft pick. But why?"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCDTShareTweetShareSharePackers Mock Draft 2019: Kiper & McShay both project D.K. Metcalf to Green Bay at 12Matt Bush-USA TODAY SportsAnother week closer to the 2019 NFL Draft brings us another slate of mock drafts, and this week we have another round of projections to mock from ESPN’s top draft analysts. Mel Kiper and Todd McShay published a joint mock draft on Tuesday, with each projecting the top 32 picks simultaneously. For the Green Bay Packers two first-round picks at #12 and #30 overall, both analysts came up with the same projections. One should make Packers fans excited. But the other...it will probably underwhelm and annoy most Cheeseheads. With the 12th pick Mike Daniels Jersey , both Kiper and McShay project the Packers to select Ole Miss wide receiver D.K. Metcalf. Yes, the same D.K. Metcalf who ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash at the 2019 Combine, but also the one who had some of the worst results in agility testing of any receiver in Combine history. Is Metcalf an explosive athlete? Yes. He’s enormous at 6-foot-3 3/8 and 228 pounds, while his 40.5-inch vertical and 11-foot-2 broad jump are exceptional numbers. But the Packers have historically valued change-of-direction ability in their wide receivers, which is measured by the 3-cone and short shuttle drills. The Packers haven’t drafted a receiver in recent memory with a slower 3-cone time than 7.19 seconds, and only one recent pick (Malachi Dupre) was slower than 7.08. Metcalf’s time was 7.38 seconds. For a draft that’s littered with intriguing receivers towards the end of the first round and into day two, over-reaching at 12 for a receiver with obvious Jaire Alexander Jersey , specific limitations is silly. But that’s what they’re doing here:This pick becomes even more laughable for McShay when you see his next three picks:13 (MIA): Ed Oliver, DT, Houston14 (ATL): Montez Sweat, EDGE, Mississippi State15 (WAS): Brian Burns, EDGE, Florida StateAny one of those would be a better pick for Green Bay Kingsley Keke Green Bay Packers Jersey , in my opinion. Oliver is an absurd talent, and he plays a position that will become a need in 2020 when Mike Daniels’ contract expires. Meanwhile, Sweat could work into the lineup with Za’Darius and Preston Smith, likely providing a similar versatility to rush from inside and outside that Za’Darius has. Either of those edge rushers would be preferable to Metcalf, as they both are just as impressive of athletes as the receiver without sharing his glaring flaw. At least Kiper made this pick with both Oliver and Sweat off the board already — but McShay cannot explain this one away.Where Packers fans will probably be pleased is with the pick at #30 overall, as both Kiper and McShay send Iowa tight end Noah Fant to Green Bay. 30 is a great range for him, and his ability to attack defenses up the seam and from the slot should make Jimmy Graham fully expendable by 2020.As more and more mocks come in Kingsley Keke Jersey 2019 , Fant continues to be a popular pick late in the round. Hisathletic ability is almost unmatched at the tight end position, and it bears itself out on tape. He’s not the all-around tight end that his teammate T.J. Hockenson is, but that’s why Hockenson is being projected in the top ten recently; getting Fant at 30 would be an excellent consolation prize. But Metcalf at 12? That’s a hard pass.
The Seahawks pass rush was the worst in the NFL in Week 1 With Michael Bennett traded to the Philadelphia Eagles http://www.seahawkslockerroom.com/authentic-bobby-wagner-jersey , Sheldon Richardson signing with the Minnesota Vikings, and Cliff Avril essentially not healthy enough to play anymore, there were more than legitimate concerns about how the Seattle Seahawks pass rush would operate in the 2018 NFL regular season. It’s early days, mind you, but the opening game was not encouraging in the slightest. Denver Broncos QB Case Keenum was sacked only one time out of 40 dropbacks, and largely had all day to throw and exploit the coverage downfield. According to NFL Matchup on ESPN, no team had a worse pressure rate in Week 1 than the Seahawks defense. (Denver was fourth-best, by the way!) There isn’t another play in the game that sums up Seattle’s (complete lack of a) pass rush than Keenum’s touchdown to Emmanuel Sanders. You want to watch Garrett Bolles literally block Jacob Martin five yards down the field like he’s a prime Walter Jones? In case you’re wondering, and I say this with a hat tip to my fellow Field Gulls colleagues, this play isn’t illegal man downfield. Bolles initiated the block within one yard of the line of scrimmage, and... well... he stayed blocking Martin until Keenum found Sanders for the score. I can only imagine how much worse that pressure rate would’ve been had the scope been limited to non-blitzes. Justin Coleman and Earl Thomas both managed to pressure Keenum off of the blitz, but those were one of the few moments of bother for Case. This is of course just one game, admittedly in a difficult place to play under hot conditions. However, until they prove otherwise, the pass rush remains the biggest problem on the Seahawks defense.Former Seahawks CB Richard Sherman to miss a few weeks with injury There’s little reason to think that the Seattle Seahawks released Richard Sherman strictly for performance Frank Clark Jersey , because Sherman was obviously still playing at a high level last season. Instead, it was logical to assume that the Seahawks released Sherman because he was turning 30, coming off of a torn Achilles, and may not be able to stay as healthy as you’d prefer a player to be when he’s got a 10-figure salary. If you think Seattle would still like the player that Sherman is, you’d be right. He played at a high level over the San Francisco 49ers first two games of the season. If you think Seattle did the smart thing by moving on from Sherman for potential health concerns, you may also be right. Sherman injured his calf on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs and it appears he’ll be out for at least a few weeks.Though he was banged up in the 2014 playoffs, Sherman had never missed a single game over the first six years of his career. En total, Sherman has been a near perfect picture of health. Then after nine starts last season, he tore his Achilles and went on injured reserve. A crack in the armor had the Seahawks a little wary perhaps of testing the armor again, so they released him, a move hated by many fans. It was even more hated after Seattle struggled at RCB to open this season while Sherman shined for San Francisco, but Sunday’s news of Sherman exiting the game against the Chiefs made it a little more understandable that not all moves are based on talent. There are cost considerations and considerations of how many snaps that player can play.I think we all hope for Sherman to make a quick recovery and to not get injured again — even though we also probably hope that he comes back and plays poorly. At least against the Seahawks in their two December meetings.Unrelated, but related:
You get six picks for the price of three!"The 2019 NFL Draft is (checks watch) 22 days away. That means you have (taps calculator) a little less than three weeks to digest more mockery of the upcoming proceedings. To that end Jadeveon Clowney Jersey White , Mel Kiper and Todd McShay recently spewed forth their latest projection for the first and second rounds of the upcoming draft, which you can check out in its entirety here.Or you can just keep reading below to see who they have your Houston Texans selecting with the 23rd, 54th, and 55th overall picks.I could certainly dig Andre Dillard in the first round.I do not love the idea of Damien Harris—or any running back, really—in the second round.Hard to disagree with the notion of addressing the secondary and/or offensive line with all three of the Texans’ first picks, but I don’t profess to be well versed enough to laud or jeer the specific additions and value of Lonnie Johnson http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authentic-shane-lechler-jersey , Jr., Chauncy Gardner-Johnson, or Dru Samia. What say you? Houston’s selection is no different Jordan Akins Jersey , as I opted to go in a direction that not many others have gone so far this draft season - center. I would say that the majority of analysts out there have the Texans taking a tackle or a guard with the 23rd overall pick on Thursday night, but with most of the great tackle and guard prospects already off the board in my own personal mock draft, I had to get creative. Enter Garrett Bradbury, the ridiculously athletic center from N.C. State. Bradbury is a freakishly quick pivot player who can do everything from reach blocking nose tackles without any help from his guards, to pulling out in space on counter runs to blow up linebackers, to effortlessly passing off stunts in protection to help preserve the integrity of the pocket. You name it Tashaun Gipson Jersey White , he can do it.I think his skill-set could be extremely valuable to Houston’s offense if he still happens to be on the board when the Texans go on the clock at No. 23. If I was going to make a comparison of Bradbury to anyone still in the league, it would be to either Jason Kelce or Alex Mack, both also incredibly quick zone centers, and you’d be hard pressed to find any Eagles or Falcons fan that didn’t think either of those guys were insanely important to their offenses. I know we like to talk about the left and right tackle positions being the most important spots to fill on the line - and yes, I still agree that they are - but you kind of can’t function up front without a great center either. History has proven that over and over again, especially with the rise in popularity in zone run games over the last several years. So with a need at center (in my opinion Christian Covington Jersey , Nick Martin hasn’t shown he’s undeniably the answer) and the best one still being on the board here, I felt like Bradbury was a natural fit in that spot. At the very least, I know that I’m getting a damn good player here, and I’m getting him at a good value, which in the end is all I really want out of a first round pick. What do you think of my selection of Garrett Bradbury, BRB? In this scenario Womens Tyler Ervin Jersey , do you feel like some other name would have been a better value? Why or why not?
The Titans have still not scored a touchdown in the month of October Womens Logan Ryan Jersey , and just when they were close, disaster struck. With Tennessee poised to score late in the second quarter, Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota had a pass tipped and intercepted in the red zone. Mariota, who for so long had earned a reputation of outstanding play in the red zone, had to walk away from that possession with no points. That allowed the Chargers to preserve a 10-6 lead at halftime. Los Angeles scored on a 75-yard touchdown pass from Philip Rivers to Tyrell Williams on its first offensive play and added a field goal on its second drive. That’s been enough so far.The Titans are off next week, so if they don’t score a touchdown in the second half today, they’ll have gone a full calendar month without a touchdown. That’s hard to do in today’s NFL. The NFL Combine ended yesterday and Bucky Brooks has the winners and losers from the entire event. DK Metcalf had a whale of a combine in all the straight line testing. When he had to change direction, he was more like a sloth than the roadrunner he’d been previously. The Raiders and Titans seems like the best fits for Antonio Brown. Cyprien will be released by the Titans this week. You hate to see a good guy like that get Wally Pipped, but it had to happen. He was making too much money, and Kenny is the far superior player.

It was another heartbreaking 34-32 loss for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Raymond James stadium. The team finishes the season 5-11 for the second straight year and changes are likely coming to the coaching staff. While it was another somber ending to a season for the Buccaneers Womens Jacquizz Rodgers Jersey , many players showed up and showed out on Sunday, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Here are the top performers from the week 17 loss. QB Jameis Winston: Whatever it is, Winston has played some of the best football of his career against the Atlanta Falcons. From the second possession on, Winston was nearly flawless. He finished the game completing 22 of 35 passes for 341 yards and four touchdowns. He did throw an interception, but it wasn’t his fault as the pass deflected off of Mike Evans hands. It was another week in which Winston was in full control from the get go and made good decisions all game long. It was a nice season ending game for Winston and a game that made it all but certain that that Winston will be back in 2019. WR Mike Evans: On a day in which Mike Evans broke the single season receiving record for the Buccaneers by surpassing Mark Carrier’s 1,422 yard mark back in 1989, he also had a heck of a game. In other words http://www.buccaneerslockerroom.com/authentic-beau-allen-jersey , the sky is blue. Evans finished the day with six catches on 9 targets for 106 yards and two touchdowns. It was a typical Mike Evans game and he also became the youngest receiver in NFL history to reach the 6,000 yard mark. Evans will finish the season with 86 catches for 1,524 yards and 8 touchdowns. Ever since being drafted, Evans has been everything the buccaneers could have wanted and more and he and Winston will continue to grow together for years to come. Chris Godwin: Deja Vu? If you remember, it was week 17 of last season where Chris Godwin had his coming out party at home against the New Orleans Saints. This year, he left no doubt in the minds of Buccaneer fans that he will be the teams #2 receiver going forward. Godwin finished the day with 6 catches on 9 targets for 114 yards and two touchdowns. It was a nice way to end the season for Godwin after having a rough couple of weeks, but you can tell the chemistry between he and Winston is on the rise. With the three main targets being Evans Demar Dotson Jersey , Godwin and Howard next season, whoever the coach is will have a ton of talent to work with. Lavonte David: One of the leaders of the defense for many years now, David closed the 2018 season out in typical fashion. He finished the game with 9 tackles, 7 of them being solo ones. He made a couple key stops on third down early in the game and was solid as usual throughout. David should and most likely will be back for Tampa Bay next season. Honorable mention: JPP, Carlton Davis, Cairo Santos.
David Moore makes the most of his opportunity against the Rams One of the Seattle Seahawks’ best players throughout training camp and the preseason 2019 Gary Jennings Jersey , sophomore David Moore has had to wait to see the field in the regular season. To begin the season, both Brandon Marshall and Jaron Brown were ahead of him on the depth chart, and Moore’s snaps were minimal as a result. However, after multiple drops by Marshall in Week 3, Moore’s play time began to rise. Against the Cowboys, Moore played 35% of the offense’s snaps. The following week in Arizona, Moore played 65% of the offense’s snaps.Though snap counts aren’t available for Week 5 at the time of publishing, Moore was a mainstay in the Seahawks’ three wide receiver sets on Sunday. Moore’s inclusion in the offense is for good reason. In the preseason, he continuously flashed the fluidity in the open field and ability on contested catches that made him such an intriguing prospect. Against the Cardinals, Moore had another moment of promising play. On Sunday, two of Moore’s three catches produced big plays and again left people wondering why he wasn’t already a key part of the offense. At 17-17 early in the 3rd quarter, with Seattle facing a 2nd and goal, Wilson was forced to buy time outside the pocket, moving backwards and then to his right. Eventually, he found Moore, who had worked back to Wilson’s side, in the back of the end zone. Moore’s recognition of the scramble drill is the most promising part, however his ability to maintain his balance along the end line is the most impressive. Then, late in the 3rd quarter Gary Jennings Seattle Seahawks Jersey , Wilson hit Moore deep down the right sideline with plenty of separation, the 30-yard touchdown putting the Seahawks ahead 31-24. In August, Moore made an impressive play or two on a weekly basis. In limited action to begin the season, he has continued to flash big-play ability. As Marshall continues to look washed up and Brown not impressing, Moore’s role on Sunday should carry over into next week. If he continues to produce, it should only grow as the season progresses. Receiver Doug Baldwin, cornerback Shaquill Griffin and guard J.R. Sweezy missed practice Tuesday as the Seahawks got to work for their wild-card playoff game.Griffin (ankle) and Sweezy (foot) are the big question marks for Saturday’s game.Baldwin (knee) has missed three games this season but has played through most of his injuries. He has had injuries to his left knee, his right knee, a hip, an elbow, a groin and a shoulder this season.Running back Mike Davis (foot), fullback Tre Madden (hamstring), safety Bradley McDougald (knee), left tackle Duane Brown (knee) and running Chris Carson (not injury related) also sat out Tuesday.Offensive guard D.J. Fluker (hamstring) was limited, and safety Tedric Thompson (ankle) and defensive end Dion Jordan (knee) were full participants.Linebacker K.J. Wright, who has played in only five games, is off the injury report. He said he is ready to resume an every-down role, Brady Henderson of ESPN reports.
